Alpine stitch

Rows 1-3: Setting up Alpine Stitch
Start alpine stitch with any odd number of stitches.
Row 1: ch 2, double crochet in every stitch, turn.
Row 2: ch 1, single crochet in every stitch, turn.
Row 3: ch 2, *front post treble crochet (in 1st row of dcs here and across), double crochet, repeat from * to the last two stitches, double crochet 2, turn.
Row 4: ch 1, single crochet in every stitch, turn.
Row 5: ch 2, *double crochet, front post treble crochet, repeat from * to the last stitch, double crochet, turn.
Row 6: ch 1, single crochet in every stitch, turn.
Repeat rows 3–6 to continue the pattern.

Notes
The number of stitches determines the width of the headband, while the rows determine the length. You can crochet as many rows as needed, (details in the instructions below).

The headband is 12 cm wide, but you can easily adjust the width by reducing or adding sts to the beginning ch 21. The number of sts has to be odd.

Instructions

Ch 21
Row 1: Dc in the 2nd st from the hook and in every stitch across. (19)
Row 2: ch 1, turn. Sc across. (19)
Row 3: ch 2, turn. *Fptc, dc* repeat from * to the last 2 sts, dc in the last 2 sts. (19)
Row 4: ch 1, turn. Sc in every stitch across. (19)
Row 5: ch 2, turn. *dc, fptc* repeat from * to the end, dc in the last st. (19)
Row 6: ch 1, turn. Sc in every stitch across. (19)
Repeat rows 3–6 until you reach the desired length, finishing with the *dc, fptc* row, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Right sides facing, weave the yarn in every second st on both ends. Pull the yarn so the band wrinkles and secure the yarn.
