Crafting Your Crochet Headband
Starting the Base Chain
Base of ch. Work in first stitch. Approx size: 3.5 inches x 20 inches
Materials Required
I have used:
- 40 grams of Paintbox Simply DK
- OR equivalent 1.45oz of Worsted Weight #3 yarn
- 5.00mm Clover crochet hook
- Large button
Gauge Details
GAUGE – 4sc & 5 rows measure approx 1 inch
Instructions
ch5, 1sc, in 2nd ch from hook, 1sc in each ch to end. Turn. (4sc)
Row 2 – (Inc Row) ch1, sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to last sc, 2sc in sc. Turn. (5sc)
Pattern Rows
Repeat last row until you have 13sc. Turn.
Pattern Row 1 – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, * granule st in next sc (see abbrev and pic) 1sc in next sc, * repeat from * to * to end. Turn. (6, granule)
Pattern Row 2 – (RS) ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each st to end. Turn. (13sc)
Repeat Pattern Rows 1 & 2 thirty-three more times or until 34 granule stitch rows have been worked in all.
Final Steps
Decrease Row – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to last 2sc, dec 1sc over last 2sc (see abbrev). Turn. (12sc)
Repeat last row until you have 4sc remaining. Turn.
With WS facing, fold headband in half, slip stitch the starting chain edge and last sc row worked together to form a round.
Finishing Touches
Finishing – Weave in all loose ends of yarn and trim, attach button over the sl st seam.
