Small amounts of the following coloured yarn needed (I used 8ply/DK acrylic and a 3mm hook, but anything that gives good tension will work)

Change to grey colour

Change to flesh colour

Fasten off

Legs (make 2, do not fasten off second leg):

Using red colour

Round 1: 5 ch and join (5)

Round 2: 3 sc, 3 sc in next stitch, 2 sc, inc (10)

Round 3: 3 sc, 3 inc, 3 sc, inc (14)

Round 4: 14 sc blo

Round 5: 3 sc, 4 dec, 3 sc (10)

Round 6: 2 sc, 3 dec, 2 sc (7) Stuff boots

Round 7-10: 7sc (7)

Change to flesh colour

Round 11: 7 sl (7)

Round 12: 7 sc blo (7)

Round 13-15: 7 sc (7)

Change to blue colour

Round 16: 7 sl (7) – fasten off first leg, make another but do not fasten off.

Body

Round 17: 2 sc blo, ch 2, sc 7 blo around other leg, sc 2 in chain, sc 5 blo (18)

Round 18: 2 sc, 2 sc in other side of chain, sc 14 (18)

Round 19-20: 18 sc

Change to red colour:

Round 21: 18 sl (18)

Round 22: 18 sc blo (18)

Round 23-27: 18 sc (18)

Change to flesh colour:

Round 29: 6 sc around arm, 9 sc blo from body, 6 sc around other arm, 9 sc blo from body (30)

Fasten off

Hair

Using black colour:

Round 1: create a magic ring, 2 ch, 11 dc, join (11)

Round 2: 2 ch, 2 dc into each stitch (22)

Round 3: 2 ch, (1 dc into stitch, 2 dc into stitch) (33)

Round 4: ch, hdc, 25x (chain 20, 19 sc, sl to next stitch), 3 hdc, 3 sc and fasten off

Sew on to head

Head band:

Using yellow colour:

Round 1: 25 ch and join

Round 2: 10 sc, hdc, dc, tr, dc, hdc, sc 10 fasten off

Sew on to head, positioning tr in centre of forehead.

Gold band around neckline of top:

Using yellow colour

sc around the posts of the top row of red 

Gold band around waist:

Using yellow colour

Sc around the posts of the top row of blue

Lasso

Using yellow colour

70 ch, fasten off. Coil up and attach to waist.

Sew in any loose ends. Embroider eyes, mouth and red star at the centre of the headband.
