The variety of colors and styles available make it easy to find one that suits your taste and adds a whimsical flair to any room. So next time you reach for a tissue, imagine doing so with the help of a cute crocheted pup keeping watch over your sniffles!

This cover fits over 4 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ tissue box.

Materials:

Red Heart yarn. Beige (tissue box top and sides)

Cafe Latte (ears muzzle, and around eyes.)

Small amounts of black, white, and red for eyes, nose, and tongue.

You will need a 3.75 mm hook (F), 5 mm hook (H), and 5.5 mm hook (I)

Sewing needle and small amount of stuffing.

Abbreviations used:

sc=single crochet, ch=chain, sl st=slip stitch, sts=stitches, tog=together, rnd=round

For the cover, use I hook and Beige or color you would like your dog.

Sides: (Make 4)

Row 1: Ch 17, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn (16)

Rows 2-21: Ch 1, sc across, turn. At end of row 21, Fasten off. Leave long tail for sewing.

Top: (Make 1)

Row 1: Ch 17, sc 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn (16)

Rows 2-8: Ch 1, sc across, turn

The next 2 rows will be the opening for the tissues.

Row 9: Ch 1, sc in first 3 sts. Fasten off. Skip next 10 sts. Join beige with sl st in next st, sc in same st as sl st and in next 2 sts, turn

Row 10: Ch 1, sc in first 3 sts, Ch 10, skip next 10 sts, sc in last 3 sts, turn

Row 11: Ch 1, sc in each st and ch across, turn

Rows 12-18: Ch 1, sc across, turn. At end of row 18, fasten off. Leave tail for sewing.

Join beige in any st on the opening. Slip stitch all the way around opening.

Now you will sew all the sides together using a whip stitch forming a box shape. Sew on the top with whip stitch with right side facing down. (This is the side where you slip stitched around the opening.) When you are done sewing you will turn it inside out so to speak so it is now right side out keeping all your whip stitching on the inside and your nice slip stitched opening will be on top. Place it over the tissue box. This will help when you sew on the dog parts.
