Crochet Mountain Laurel Shawl

The Crochet Mountain Laurel Shawl is truly a delightful piece that combines both elegance and comfort effortlessly. Its intricate design is a testament to the artistry and skill of crochet enthusiasts. The cascading layers of stitches create a beautiful texture that drapes gracefully around the shoulders. Whether you're attending a special event or simply cozying up at home, this shawl is sure to add a touch of charm to any outfit. With its soft yarn and intricate patterns, it's a joy to work up and an even greater joy to wear. So grab your crochet hook and let's create a piece that will have you feeling stylish and snug in no time!

Materials:

  • H (5.0 mm) crochet hook
  • 547 yards of #3 light weight yarn (I used 1 ball of Butterfly from Hobbii in #1 “Monarch” colorway)
  • Yarn/tapestry needle
  • Scissors
  • Measuring Tape

Sizing:

  • Along the bottom edge is 21 inches.
  • Bottom point along the side edge and upwards is 22 inches.
  • Height (from the bottom edge straight up to the top edge) is 16.5 inches.
  • Along the top edge is 47 inches.

Note: You can easily make this wider and taller by working more rows of the pattern.

Pattern Notes:

  • Shawl is a trapezoid shape, so it is kind of like a triangle with a flat bottom instead of a point.
  • If you need to adjust the size of the shawl, just work more or less rows of the pattern. As you work more rows, the shawl will both increase in height and width.

Mountain Laurel Crochet Shawl Pattern:

  • Chain 94 (multiple of 3+1)
  • Row 1: In the 4th ch from the hook, work a (dc, ch 1, dc), *skip 2 ch then work a (dc, ch 1, dc) in the next ch. Repeat from * across until 3 ch are left. Skip 2 ch, then work a dc in the last ch.
  • Row 2: Ch 3 and turn. *Work a (dc, ch 1, dc) in the ch 1 space from the previous row (center of the “v”). Repeat from * across. Work a (dc, ch 1, dc) into the turning chain space.
  • Repeat row 2 until the shawl is as tall and wide as you like. I worked the one pictured until it had a height of 16.5 inches.

Finishing & Assembly:

  • Weave in any ends and your shawl is ready to wear!
