Knitting instructions:
Size: 40
You will need:
- GAZZAL yarn (400 m - 50 g; 140% Australian wool, 20% polyamide, 40% polyacrylic).
- 2 mm crochet hook.
- 5 buttons.
Instructions:
Begin crocheting the main part of the cape (1 piece) from bottom to top. Chain 543 stitches and follow Pattern A. After crocheting 8 rows, make decreases in the double crochet stitches. Plan the decreases evenly; by the 9th row, you should have 466 double crochets. Continue making decreases in the following rows (402 dc; 354 dc; 314 dc; 282 dc; 252 dc; and 106 dc). Start crocheting the second part from the waist down following Pattern B. Chain 252 stitches, and after crocheting 20 cm, make increases for the hips according to Pattern C, and crochet another 9 cm. Sew all pieces together.
From the bottom of the cape, measure 15 cm and attach the second part on the wrong side, leaving space for the sleeves, 12 cm on each side. On the front part of the jacket created by the attached second part, lay a tambour braid and crochet a border with single crochets without yarn overs. On the right border, after crocheting 2.5 cm, make buttonholes. Crochet the collar in single crochets; make increases at several points in rows 3, 8, and 13 so that the collar flares slightly and lies flat at the back. Finish the edge of the cape according to Pattern D.
I need help with the instruction for the «crochet elegant cape jacket»
1.I found two possible yarn matches on the Gazzal web site: Gazzal baby wool, which is #1 superfine and Gazzal baby wool XL, which is #3 Light. Which yarn is a better match?
2.How many balls of 50 gram yarn do I need?
3. The chart does not match the standard key that I found. How do I find a key that matches the chart in the instructions?
4. I think that I figured most of the chart, except for the «cross inside an oval.» What does the «cross inside an oval» mean on the chart?
5. What is the gauge for this project? How many stitches and rows in a four-inch square, for example.
I look forward to receiving your answers for these questions.
