Aunt Lydia’s Fashion 3 (super fine weight; 100% mercerized cotton) 50 yards Natural (MC) and 40 yards Scarlet (CC)

You will need crochet hook size C/8 – 2.75mm, a yarn needle to weave in ends.

This pattern uses US terminology.

Stitches and Terms Used: Single crochet (sc) back post single crochet (BPSC), double crochet (dc), slip stitch (sl st), main color (MC), contrasting color (CC)

Using MC, Start by chaining 21.

Rnd 1: 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Sc in each of next 18. 3 sc in last chain. Working on opposite side of foundation chain, sc in each of next 18. Sl st to join in top of first sc. (42)

Rnd 2: Ch 1. 2 sc in same and each of next 2. Sc in each of next 18. 2 sc in each of next 3. Sc in each of next 18. Sl st to join. (48)

Rnd 3: Ch 1. BPSC around. Sl st to join. Do not fasten off.

PANEL

Ch 20. 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Sc in each of next 8. skip next. Sc in each of next 8. 2 sc in last. Sl st in next 2 stitches of bag base and turn.

Row 1: Skip sl sts. 2 sc in 1st, 1 sc in each of next 8, skip next 2, sc in each of next 8. 2 sc in last. Change to CC or MC (change on last loop of last sc. Drop and pick up later, don’t cut). Ch 1 and turn.

Row 2: 2 sc in 1st, [ch 1, sk next. Sc in next] 3 times. Sc in each of next 2.

Skip next 2. Sc in each of next 2. [Sc in next ch 1 and skip next] 3 times. 2 sc in last. Sl st in the next 2 stitches along base and turn.

Row 3: Sk sl sts. 2 sc in 1st

[Sc in next, ch 1, skip next] 3 times.

Sc in each of next 2, skip next 2, sc in each of next 2. [Ch 1 and skip next] 3 times. 2 sc in last changing to MC. Ch 1 and turn.

Row 4: 2 sc in 1st, sc in each of next 2. [Dc in sk st 2 rows down, sc in next] 3 times. Skip next 2. [Sc in next, dc in sk st 2 rows down] 3 times. Sc in each of next 2, 2 sc in last. Sl st in next 2 stitches of base and turn.

Repeat rows 1-4 around wallet base.

Finish at the end of row 4. Do not slip stitch into base. Fasten off MC and leave tail for sewing. Fasten off CC.

Turn inside out. Sew last row of panel and Row 1 together to close panel.

TOP SECTION

Rnd 4: Join MC to top of panel. Ch 1, sc in same. Sc into end of each row around, sl st to join. (48)

Rnd 5: Ch 1. BPSC around. Sl st to join.

Rnds 6 –10: Ch 1. Sc in each around. Sl st to join. Do not slip stitch at end of round 10. Cut yarn. Invisible finish: Use yarn needle. Pull yarn front to back through first sc then down through top of last stitch.

Add lining and zipper to finish.
