Hobbii 8/8 Rainbow Cotton yarn, in your choice of colors
Size H/8 (5.00mm) crochet hook

Stitches Used/Abbreviations:
ch-chain
rnd-round
sc-single crochet
hdc-half double crochet
fphdc-front post half double crochet
dc-double crochet
sl st-slip stitch

Instructions: (I changed colors with every rnd, except the 1st 2. I made my color changes at the join.)
Rnd 1:
ch 2. Work 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join. (8 sts)
Rnd 2: ch 1. Work 2 sc in each st around. Join. (16 sts) Change color.
Rnd 3: ch 1. *Work {2 hdc, ch 2, 2 hdc} in next st. Ch 1. Skip 1 st. Sc in next st. Ch 1. Skip 1 st*. Repeat (*) around. Join. (5 sts+2 ch 1 spaces per side, and 4 ch 2 spaces for corners) Change color.

Rnd 4: ch 1. Sc in same st as join. Sc in next st. *Work {2 sc, ch 2, 2 sc} in next ch 2 space. Sc in each of the next 2 sts. Dc in next skipped st in rnd 3. Ch 1. Skip 1 st. Dc in next skipped st in rnd 3. Sc in each of the next 2 sts*. Repeat (*) around, ending with a dc in skipped st of rnd 3 on last side. Join. (10 sts+1 ch 1 space per side, and 4 ch 2 spaces for corners) Change color.
Rnd 5: ch 1. Hdc in same st as join. Hdc in each of the next 3 sts. *Work {2 hdc, ch 2, 2 hdc} in next ch 2 space. Hdc in each of the next 4 sts. Skip dc st. Work 3 hdc in ch 1 space. Skip dc st. Hdc in each of the next 4 sts*. Repeat 980 around, ending with working 3 hdc in ch 1 space of last side. Skip last dc st. Join. (15 sts per side, and 4 ch 2 spaces for corners) Change color.
Rnd 6: ch 1. Sc in same st as join. Sc in each of the next 5 sts. *Work {2 sc, ch 2, 2 sc} in next ch 2 space. Sc in each of the next 6 sts. Fphdc around each of the next 3 sts. Sc in each of the next 6 sts*. Repeat (*) around, ending with fphdc around each of the last 3 sts. Join. (19 sts per side, and 4 ch 2 spaces for corners) Change color.
Rnd 7: ch 1. Hdc in same st as join. Hdc in each of the next 7 sts. *Work {2 hdc, ch 2, 2 hdc} in next ch 2 space. Hdc in each of the next 8 sts. Fphdc around each of the next 3 sts. Hdc in each of the next 8 sts*. Repeat (*) around, ending with fphdc around each of the last 3 sts. Join. (23 sts per side, and 4 ch 2 spaces for corners) Change color.
Rnd 8: ch 1. Sc in same st as join. Sc in each of the next 9 sts. *Work {2 sc, ch 2, 2 sc} in next ch 2 space. Sc in each of the next 23 sts*. Repeat (*) around, ending with a sc in each of the last 13 sts on last side. Join. Fasten off. Weave in all ends.
For best results~BLOCK YOUR SQUARE when finished! Proper blocking equipment is probably very helpful in this...lol
