Crochet Morning Glory Shawl

Imagine starting your day by wrapping yourself in a beautifully crafted Crochet Morning Glory Shawl. This delicate and intricate piece features a stunning design inspired by the vibrant colors of morning glories blooming in the early hours of the day. The shawl is carefully crocheted with attention to detail, creating a piece that is not only stylish but also cozy and comfortable to wear. Handmade with love and care, this shawl is sure to become a treasured piece in your wardrobe, bringing a sense of beauty and joy to your everyday life.

Materials:

  • J (6.0 mm) crochet hook
  • 872 yards of medium #4/worsted weight yarn (I used 4 balls of Everyday Acrylic XL from Hobbii in the “Sky Blue” colorway)
  • Yarn/tapestry needle
  • Scissors
  • Measuring Tape

Sizing:

  • 17 inches wide

62 inches long

Pattern Notes:

  • Easily change the shawl width by adjusting the multiple of the starting chain (see below for multiple)
  • Change the length of the shawl by working more rows of the pattern.

Morning Glory Crochet Shawl Pattern:

  • Ch 61 (multiple of 4+1)
  • Row 1: In the 6th chain from the hook, work (dc, ch 2 , dc) *skip 3 chains, then in the next chain work (dc, ch 2, dc), repeat from * to last 3 chains, skip the next 2 chains, then work a dc in the last chain.
  • Row 2: Chain 3 and turn, then *work 4 dc in the ch 2 space (from previous row). Repeat to the end of the row, then work a dc in the turning chain space.
  • Row 3: Chain 4 and turn (note this turning ch has one extra ch, because this forms part of the first “v” of the row). Work a dc in the space between the first 2 dc. *skip 4 dc, then work (dc, ch 2, dc) in the space before the next group of 4 dc, repeat from * across. Work dc, ch 1, dc in the turning chain space.
  • Row 4: Chain 3 and turn. Work 2 dc in the ch 1 space (from previous row) * skip 2 dc, then work 4 dc in the ch 2 space, repeat from * across. Work 3 dc in the turning chain space.
  • Row 5: Chain 3 and turn. Skip the first 3 dc from the previous row. *Work (dc, ch 2, dc) in the space before the next group, skip 4 dc, repeat from * across, then work a dc in the turning chain space.

Repeat rows 2-5 until desired length, ending on either rows 2 or 4 for a more solid, finished looking edge.

Finishing & Assembly:

  • Weave in any ends and your shawl is ready to wear!
