Helping our users. ​Baby “Bear”  Hooded Cowl.

You’ll need:

2 (3) skeins of Bernat® Softee® Chunky™ (3.5 oz /100 g; 108 yds/99 m) in Clay color;

Crochet hook 6,5 mm and 8 mm.

 

Size: 4-6 years (6-8 years).

 

Stitches control: 7 sts x 5 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

 

Instructions

Hood

Note: Ch 3 at beg of rnd or row counts as dc throughout. With larger hook, ch 36 (40). Join with sl st to first ch to form ring, being careful not to twist chain.

Note: Hood is worked with WS facing until divide for Face Opening.

1st rnd: (WS). Ch 3. 1 dc in each ch around. Join with sl st to top of ch-3. 36 (40) sts.

2nd rnd: Ch 3. Sl st in next dc. *1 dc in next dc. Sl st in next dc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to top of ch-3.

3rd rnd: Ch 3. 1 dc in each st around. Join with sl st to top of ch-3.

4th rnd: As 2nd rnd. Rep last 2 rnds 1 (2) time(s) more.

 

Divide for Face Opening

Turn work inside out and beg working in rows as follows:

1st row: (RS). Ch 3. 1 dc in each of next 30 (34) sts. Turn. Leave rem 5 sts unworked. Cont working on 31 (35) sts as follows:

2nd row: Ch 3. *Sl st in in next dc. 1 dc in next dc. Rep from * to end of row. Turn.

3rd row: Ch 3. 1 dc in each st to end of row. Turn. Rep last 2 rows for pat until work from divide measures approx 5 (6)" [12.5 (15) cm], ending on a WS row.

 

Shape Top Hood

1st row: (RS). Ch 3. 1 dc in each of next 8 (9) sts. (Dc2tog) twice. 1 dc in each of next 5 (7) sts. (Dc2tog) twice. 1 dc in each of next 9 (10) sts. Turn. 27 (31) sts.

2nd row: Ch 3. *Sl st in in first dc. 1 dc in next dc. Rep from * to end of row. Turn.

3rd row: Ch 3. 1 dc in each of next 7 (8) sts. (Dc2tog) twice. 1 dc in each of next 3 (5) sts. (Dc2tog) twice. 1 dc in each of next 8 (9) sts. Turn. 23 (27) sts.

4th row: As 2nd row.

5th row: Ch 3. 1 dc in each of next 6 (7) sts. (Dc2tog) twice. 1 dc in each of next 1 (3) st(s). (Dc2tog) twice. 1 dc in each of next 7 (8) sts. Turn. 19 (23) sts.

Size 6/8 only

6th row: Ch 3. *Sl st in in first dc. 1 dc in next dc. Rep from * to end of row. Turn.

7th row: Ch 3. 1 dc in each of next 6 sts. (Dc2tog) twice. 1 dc in next st. (Dc2tog) twice. 1 dc in each of next 7 sts. 19 sts.

Both sizes

Fasten off. Sew Top Hood seam. Face Opening Edging With larger hook, join yarn with sl st to first unworked st at bottom of Face Opening.

1st rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in each of first 5 sts. Work 25 (30) sc evenly around Face Opening. Join with sl st to first sc. 30 (35) sts.

2nd rnd: Ch 1. Working from left to right instead of right to left as usual, work 1 reverse sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc.

Fasten off.

 

Ears

Make 4.

With smaller hook, ch 2.

1st row: (RS). 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Turn.

2nd row: Ch 1. 2 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn. 10 sc.

3rd row: Ch 1. 2 sc in first sc. 1 sc in next sc. *2 sc in next sc. 1 sc in next sc. Rep from * to end of row. 15 sc.

Fasten off.

 

Join Ears

With WS of 2 Ears facing each other, join yarn with sl st to first sc.

1st row: Ch 1. Working through both thicknesses, 1 sc in each sc to end of row.

Fasten off.

Sew Ears to Hood.
