Assembly
Now flatten the two “tree” shapes together and slip stitch through both layers (1 sl st per row end working under a single loop of each layer only) up the one side toward the top “Loop” created by the extra ch 4. Work in the top space created by the ch 4 and then continue working 1 sl st per row end all the way back to the base of the ‘tree”. Rotate your tree to work along the base of your tree and working through both layers work 1 sl st in each of the next 6 sts, then work 1 sl st in the front layer only for each of the next 3 sts (see photo), work 1 sl st through both layers in each of the next 6 sts, finish off with an invisible join and weave in all ends.
Next, let’s get that candy cane inserted into your tree. Slip the ‘stem’ of the candy cane between the sc3tog stitches at the back of the tree and down through the inside of your tree to the base where you left those 3 stitches open.

I don't want to offend anyone's feelings.
But I think that many children or even adults also associate these sweets with this holiday
