​Crochet Christmas Tree Beanie

You’ll need:

1 skein of Worsted Weight Yarn (size 4 or medium);

Crochet hooks G, H, or I;

Yarn needle;

Battery Pack Christmas Lights(optional).

Size: toddler, kids, adults.

Crochet Christmas Tree Hat for Toddlers & Kids

Use a size G hook for toddlers and an H hook for kids. This pattern was made using Red Heart With Love Metallic Yarn in Lime.

Stretchy Hat Band

Row 1: FSC 6 leaving a tail of 4-6 inches.

Row 2: CH 1 (does NOT count as first ST) and turn your work. BLO SC in every stitch. (6 ST)

Row 3-60:  Repeat row 2.

Updated 10-30-21 – the stretchy hat band is made with single crochet stitches in the back loop only.

Hat Body

Rnd 1: CH 1. SC once in each row of the band. SL last to first ST to join and end RND. (60 ST)

Rnd 2: CH 2. RUFFLE (3 SC in the Front loop only) in each ST around. (180 ST) SL to first ST. CH 2. BLO HDC in each stitch around. SL to first ST to join. (60 ST)

Rnd 3: CH 2. * HDC in 10 ST. HDC2TOG in next 2 ST. Repeat from * to end. SL to first to join. (60 ST)

Rnd 4: CH 2. HDC in every ST. SL to first to join. (55 ST)

Rnd 5: CH 2. * HDC in 10 ST. HDC2TOG in next 2 ST. Repeat from * to end. SL to first to join. (55 ST)

Rnd 6: CH 2. RUFFLE in each st around (150 ST) SL to first ST. CH 2. BLO HDC in each stitch around. SL to first ST to join. (50 ST)

Rnd 7: CH 2. * HDC in first 8ST. HDC2TOG in next 2 ST. Repeat from * to end. SL to first to join. (50 ST)

Rnd 8: HDC in every st. (45 ST)

Rnd 9: CH 2. * HDC in first 7 ST. HDC2TOG in next 2 ST. Repeat from * to end. SL to first to join. (45 ST)

Rnd 10: CH 2. RUFFLE in each st around (120 ST) SL to first ST. CH 2. BLO HDC in each stitch around. SL to first ST to join. (40 ST)

Rnd 11: CH 2. * HDC in first 6. HDC2TOG in next 2 ST. Repeat from * to end. SL to first to join. (40 ST)

Rnd 12: HDC in every ST. (35 ST)

Rnd 13: CH 2. * HDC in first 5. HDC2TOG in next 2 ST. Repeat from * to end. SL to first to join. (35 ST)

Rnd 14: CH 2. RUFFLE in each st around (90 ST). SL to first ST. CH 2. BLO HDC in each stitch around. SL to first ST to join. (30 ST)

Rnd 15: CH 2. * HDC in first 4. HDC2TOG in next 2 ST. Repeat from * to end. SL to first to join. (30 ST)

Rnd 16: Hdc (25 ST)

Rnd 17: CH 2. * HDC in first 3. HDC2TOG in next 2 ST. Repeat from * to end. SL to first to join. (25 ST)

Rnd 18: CH 2. RUFFLE in each st around (60 ST). SL to first ST. CH 2. BLO HDC in each stitch around. SL to first ST to join. (20 ST)

Rnd 19: HDC in every ST. (20 ST)

Rnd 20: CH 2. * HDC in first 2. HDC2TOG in next 2 ST. Repeat from * to end. SL to first to join. (20 ST)

Rnd 21: HDC in every ST. (15 ST)

Rnd 22: RUFFLE in each st around (45 ST). SL to first ST. CH 2. BLO HDC in each stitch around. SL to first ST to join. (15 ST)

Rnd 23: CH 2. * HDC in first 1. HDC2TOG in next 2 ST. Repeat from * to end. SL to first to join. (15 ST)

Rnd 24: HDC in every ST. (10 ST)

Rnd 25: CH 2. HDC2TOG around. SL to first to join. (10 ST)

After the last round tie of your yarn leaving a 4-6 inch tail. Thread through a  yarn needle and stitch the top closed, then weave the end through the inside of the hat. Repeat for the tail at the beginning of the hat.

Crochet Christmas Tree Hat for Adults

Use a size H hook for regular adult size and an I hook for larger heads. This pattern was made using Loops and Threads Impeccable Yarn in Kelly Green.

Stretchy Hat Band

Row 1: FSC 8 leaving a tail of 4-6 inches.

Row 2: CH 1 (does NOT count as first ST) and turn your work. BLO SC in every stitch. (8 ST)

Row 3-70:  Repeat row 2.
