Crochet Kitten Bag
You’ll need:
1 ball bulky weight yarn in gray (A);
1/2 ball of worsted weight yarn in off white (B);
Small amount of pink and light gray in worsted weight;
Crochet hook 5 mm and 6,5 mm;
Two wooden beads with a large opening;
Wooden button;
Yarn needle.
Instructions
First Side
With A and K hook
Ch 19
Row 1: hdc in second ch from hk, hdc to end, turn
Row 2: ch 1, 2hdc in first st, hdc in next st until you are one st away from the last st, 2 hdc in last st, turn (20 st)
Row 3: ch 1, hdc in each st to end, turn
Row 4: repeat row 2 (22 st)
Row 5 – 9: repeat row 3
Row 10: ch 1, hdc2tog, hdc in next 18 st, hdc2tog, turn (20 st)
Row 11: repeat row 3
Row 12: ch 1, hdc2tog, hdc in next 16, hdc2tog, turn (18 st)
Row 13: ch1, sk 2 st,4tr in next st, ch 2, 4tr in same st, (first ear made), sk next 2 st, sc in next 8 st, sk next 2 st, 4tr in next st, ch 2, 4tr in same st, (second ear made) sk next st, slst in last st
Fasten off
Second Side
Repeat first side to row 12
Row 13: ch1, sk 2 st, 4tr in next st, ch 2, 4tr in same st, (first ear made), sk next 2 st, sc in next 4 st, ch 6, sc in next 4 st, sk next 2 st, 4tr in next st, ch 2, 4tr in same st, (second ear made) sk next st, slst in last st
Fasten off
Strap
With white and 5 mm hk
Ch 200 (approximately 50” / 127 cm (this will make your strap and the strip that sews front and back together)
String both beads onto ch
Slst first ch to last ch to form a circle, be careful not to twist your ch
Rnd 1 – 4:ch 1, sc in each st around, join with a slst to first st of rnd
Rnd 5: slst in each st around
Fasten off leaving a tail 3x the length of the strap made for sewing
Assembly
Stitch whiskers in light gray from 4th st on top of row 4 to 10th st in middle of row 7, then to 4th st of row 7, then from 4th st on top of row 9 back to 10th st in middle of row 7, leave 3 st for nose and mirror whiskers on other side. Stitch nose in pink between whiskers, sew button on front so it fits with your button. Sew two sides together with strap in the middle using a whip st from the bottom of first to bottom of last ear, making sure your beads are on either side.
