Chain 82 (starting with color A)
Row 1: Insert your hook into the 2nd chain from the hook, yarn over and pull up a loop so you have 2 loops on the hook. Insert your hook into the 3rd chain from the hook, yarn over and pull up a loop so you have 3 loops on the hook. Insert your hook into the 4th chain from the hook, yarn over and pull up a loop so you have 4 loops on the hook. Insert your hook into the 5th chain from the hook, yarn over and pull up a loop so you have 5 loops on the hook. Insert your hook into the 6th chain from the hook, yarn over and pull up a loop so you have 6 loops on the hook. Yarn over and pull through all 6 loops on the hook. Ch 1 (this holds all 6 loops together).
*Insert hook into the chain you just made (the hole in the middle of the starburst), yarn over and pull up the loop so there are 2 loops on the hook. Insert hook in between the last and second last post from the previous star stitch, yarn over and pull up the loops so there are 3 loops on the hook. Insert hook in the last loop from the previous star stitch, yarn over and pull up the loops so there are 4 loops on the hook. Insert hook in the chain and pull up a loop for the next 2 chains for a total of 6 loops on the hook. Ch 1.*
Repeat from * to * across the rest of the chain, ending with an hdc in the last stitch where you ended the last star stitch.
Row 2: Ch 1, sc into the top of the hdc from the previous row. Ch 1 into the hole or center of the star from the previous row. Ch 2 into the next hole or center of the star. Continue in this manner across the row. End with a sc through the top of the turning chain. Ch 2.
Row 3 (It’s helpful to watch the video for this tricky part at 9:40 in the crochet tutorial): Insert hook into the front loop of the 2nd ch from the hook, yarn over and pull through so there are 2 loops on the hook, insert hook in the back loop of the same ch, yarn over and pull through so there are 3 loops on the hook. Insert hook in the chain and pull up a loop for the next 3 stitches for a total of 6 loops on the hook.
