​Black and White Backpack

You’ll need:

4 skeins of white 100% cotton yarn (75m/100g);

6 skeins of the same yarn, but in black color;

Crochet hook 6;

Leather cord 4 mm thick and 150 cm long;

Leather lace 30 mm wide and 60 cm long;

Size: 86 cm wide x 57 cm high.

Instructions

At first, make strap for D-shape ring: make 5 chain sts, single crochet in the 2^nd chain st from the crochet hook and work with single crochets to the end of row. Turn with the help of 1 chain st (finish all the rows with 1 chain st increase). Totally, make 5 rows, cut and fasten the yarn. Make 2 chain sts with black yarn and make 6 single crochets in the 2^nd chain st from the crochet hook. Continue crocheting around:

1^st row: 2 single crochets in every st = 12 sts;

2^nd row: * 1 single crochet, 2 single crochets in the next st* = 18 sts;

3^rd row: * 2 single crochets, 2 single crochets in the next st* = 24 sts.

Continue work, increase 6 sts in every row = 17 rows and 108 sts.

After that, make 8 rows of single crochets, insert strap in the ring, fold it and join it to the last 4 sts in the 8^th row of single crochets. Continue work with jacquard pattern due to the scheme (with black and white yarn). Repeat the pattern x 4 times in height. Cut white rows and work only with black yarn. Make 3 rowsofsinglecrochets. It’snecessarytomakeholesforleatherlace. Make 8 single crochets, 4 chain sts, skip 4 sts, work with single crochets to the end of row. Make 2 rows of single crochets. After that, make holes for leather lace and leather cord, making 4 chain sts above arches of chain sts of the previous row. Continue work in the following way: * 8 single crochets, 1 chain st, skip 1 st*; repeat from * to *. Make 5 rows of single crochets, cut the yarn. Weave in ends.



Assembly

Skip one end of leather lace in the ring and sew. Skip the opposite end through upper chain, draw the yarn from lower and sew. Insert the leather cord in the row with holes of chain sts. Tighten your work with cord.
