Special Stitches
Modified V-Stitch – Called “v-stitch” in the pattern, this is not actually a v-stitch. Work 2 dc in the space of the 2 dc of the previous row as you would a v-stitch, but do not chain.
FHDC – (Foundation Half Double Crochet, SEE VIDEO below) Chain 1, yarn over, insert hook into the chain, yarn over, pull up a loop (3 loops on hook), yarn over, pull up through the first loop on the hook (this is your first chain loop, 3 loops on hook) yarn over, pull through 3.
