You’ll need:
Blue Sky Alpacas Worsted Cotton (worsted weight; 100% cotton; 150 yds/100g per hank): 5 (5, 6, 6, 7) hanks azul #628;
Knitting needles 5 and 5.5 mm;
Stitch markers.
Size: S; M; L; XL; XXL.
Length: 16 (16½, 17, 17½, 18) inches
Stitches control: 16 sts x 20 rows = 4 inches/10cm in St st with larger needle. 18-st Lace Panel = 4 inches/10cm with larger needle.
Note: in garter stitch, 2 rows equal one “ridge.”

Row 1 (RS): K4, p2tog, k2, yo, k5, yo, k2, p2tog, k1.
Row 2 and all WS rows: Purl.

Instructions
Back
With smaller needles cast on 74 (82, 90, 98, 106) sts, leaving a long end for seaming.
Work in garter stitch (knit all rows) until back measures 1 ½ inches, ending with WS row.
Neckline Edging
Row 1 (RS): Knit.
Row 2(WS): P15 (18, 22, 25, 29), pm, k44 (46, 46, 48, 48), pm, p15 (18, 22, 25, 29).
Rows 3-10: Continue in established pat, working sts between markers in garter stitch and rem sts in sl st.
Shape Neck
Next row (RS): Knit to marker, slip marker, k6, join 2nd ball of yarn and bind off center 32 (34, 34, 36, 36) sts, k6 (includes st on needle after bind-off), slip marker, knit to end—21 (24, 28, 31, 35) sts on each shoulder.
Working both sides at once with separate balls of yarn, work even until back measures 16 (16½, 17, 17½, 18) inches, ending with a WS row.
Bind off each shoulder, leaving long ends for sewing seams.
Left Front
With smaller needles, cast on 38 (42, 46, 50, 54) sts, leaving a long end for seaming.
Work in garter st until front measures 1½ inches (about 10 rows or 5 ridges on RS), ending with a WS row.
Change to larger needles.
Set-up row (RS): K12 (16, 20, 24, 28), pm, work Row 1 of Lace Panel over 18 sts, pm, k2, pm, k6.
Next row: K6, p2, work Row 2 of Lace Panel, p12 (16, 20, 24, 28).
Work in established pats until front measures 10½ (11, 11½, 12, 12½) inches, ending with a WS row and removing markers on last row.
Neckline Edging
Row 1 (RS): K15 (18, 22, 25, 29), pm, k23 (24, 24, 25, 25).

Next row: Purl to marker, work Row 2 of Lace Panel, p2, k6.
Work in established pats until front measures 10½ (11, 11½, 12, 12½) inches, ending with a WS row and removing markers on last row.

Work even in established pats until front measures same as back to shoulder.
Bind off all sts.
Left Sleeve
With RS facing and beg at marker on left front, with larger needle, pick up and knit 33 (35, 37, 39, 41) sts evenly spaced
to shoulder, then pick up and knit 33 (35, 37, 39, 41) sts along
back edge to marker—66 (70, 74, 78, 82) sts.
Set-up row (WS): P24 (26, 28, 30, 32), pm, p18, pm, p24 (26, 28,
30, 32) sts.
Next row (RS): Knit to marker, work Row 1 of Lace Panel, knit to end.
Work in established pats until sleeve measures 9 (9½, 10, 10½,
11) inches from pick-up row, ending with a WS row.
Change to smaller needles. Work even in garter st for 10 rows (5 ridges), ending with a WS row.
Bind off all sts, leaving a long end for sewing sleeve seam.
Right Sleeve
With RS facing and beg at marker on back, with larger needle, pick up and knit 33 (35, 37, 39, 41) sts evenly spaced
to shoulder, then pick up and knit 33 (35, 37, 39, 41) sts along
right front edge to marker—66 (70, 74, 78, 82) sts.
Set-up row (WS): P24 (26, 28, 30, 32), pm, p18, pm, p24 (26, 28,
30, 32).
Next row (RS): Knit to marker, work Row 1 of Lace Panel, knit to end.
Work in established pats until sleeve measures 9 (9½, 10, 10½,
11) inches from pick-up row, ending with a WS row. Change to smaller needles.
Work even in garter st for 10 rows (5 ridges), ending with a WS row.
Bind off all sts, leaving a long end for sewing sleeve seam.
Assembly
Steam pieces lightly on WS. Do not touch iron to pieces, just allow steam to penetrate fabric, and then flatten lightly with palms and match to measurements.
With RS facing, lay pieces so that shoulders match. Sew left shoulder, then sew right shoulder. Weave in ends.
Place a marker 8 (8½, 9, 9½, 10) inches down from shoulder on both front and back, on left and right sides of body of sweater.
Finishing
Steam sleeves lightly on WS.
With RS facing and beg at lower edges, sew side and sleeve seams, using available tail.
Weave the ends into the seams on the WS.
