​Hand-Made Raffia Basket

You’ll need:

Several colors of raffia;

Scissors;

Thick needle with big eye.

Instructions

1. Fold the warp fibers into a bundle. With a raffia of a different color, begin to wrap this bundle, then wrap it in a circle and fix it with a needle, as shown in the picture.

2. Continue to form a flat bottom, laying the base fibers in a circle and sewing them with a needle with fibers of a different color. Add fiber base as needed.

3. Having made the bottom of the right size, go to the walls of the basket.

4. Sew the base fibers to the previous layers, making stitches in a checkerboard pattern.

5. You can change the color of the base to make a finishing strip on top of the basket.

6. When you make the walls of the desired height, treat the edge with a thicker bunch of raffia, sewing it with more frequent stitches.
