You'll need:

Old wooden box with lid;

Paint for wood;

Brush;

Piece of dense cotton or linen fabric;

Dress-making scissors;

Needle;

Threads.

Instructions

If necessary, polish the wooden box and then paint it. Let the paint dry.

Measure the inner perimeter of the box and the height of the sides.

Cut from a dense linen or cotton fabric a long strip with a width equal to the length of the perimeter of the casket with 1 cm allowances.

Fold the strip in half with the front side inward and sew it in short cuts into a ring.

Process open sections on an overlock or a zigzag line on the sewing machine.

Unscrew allowances for long cuts on the wrong side and stitch them. Turn the strip to the front side.

Fold the strip with an accordion so that the height of the resulting part is slightly lower than the height of the sides of the box.

“Try on” the resulting accordion - put it in the box, the folds should fit snugly together.

If the result suits you, remove the part folded accordion from the box and sew the folds together from below. For reliability, sew the pleats on the sides manually.
