Cross 4 sts to right - transfer 2 sts to the auxilary needle, leave behind work, 2 knit sts, 2 knit sts from the auxilary needle;

Cross 4 sts left - transfer 2 sts to the auxilary needle, leave in front of work, 2 knit sts, 2 knit sts from the auxilary needle.

The quantity of sts is 20 sts + 4 auxilary sts. Selvedge sts aren't included in the pattern repeat.

1st row: 2 purls, * 6 knit sts, cross 4 sts right, cross 4 sts left, 6 knit sts*, 2 purls;

2nd and all the even rows: knit due to the ornament;

3rd row: 2 purls, * 4 knit sts, cross 4 sts right, 4 knit sts, cross 4 sts left, 4 knit sts*, 2 purls

5th row: 2 purls, * cross 4 sts right, 8 knit sts, cross 4 sts left, 2 knit sts*, 2 purls;

7th row: 2 purls, * cross 4 sts right, 12 knit sts, cross 4 sts left*, 2 purls.

Repeat these 8 rows to the needed height.
