Finished Size

  • Adult/Teen: 8.25” (21 cm) wide x 60” (152.5 cm) long.

Materials

  • Big Twist Posh yarn (100% polyester, 7 oz/200 g, 233 yd/213 m) – 1 skein each in Raspberry Sorbet (MC), Earl Grey (CA), and Strawberry Shortcake (CB), or approximately 233 yd (213 m) in MC, 175 yd (160 m) in CA, and 40 yd (36.5 m) in CB in any bulky weight, polyester yarn.
  • KnitPro Waves 2.0 (available online at LoveCrafts | Amazon) US Size 7 mm crochet hook, or any size needed to obtain correct gauge.
  • (Optional) KnitPro Waves 2.0 (available online at LoveCrafts | Amazon) US Size K-10.5/6.5 mm crochet hook, or any size needed to obtain correct gauge.
  • Yarn needle.

Gauge

  • With larger hook, 12 sts (bob + 2 hdc) in pattern for Row 5 = 4” (10 cm) across. Exact gauge is not critical for this project.

Abbreviations Used in This Pattern

  • bob – 4-repeat bobble – [Yo, insert hook in st, yo and draw up a loop, yo and draw through 2 loops] 4 times in same st, yo and draw through all 5 loops on hook.
  • CA – Color A
  • CB – Color B
  • ch – chain
  • dc – double crochet
  • FPsc – front post single crochet – Insert hook from front around back to front of st in previous round, yo and draw up a loop, yo and draw through 2 loops. 
  • hdc – half double crochet
  • MC – Main Color
  • rep – repeat
  • sc – single crochet
  • st(s) – stitch(es)
  • yo – yarn over
  • [] Repeat instructions within brackets as indicated.

Pattern Notes

  • You may find it difficult to maintain the same gauge for the bobble section of the scarf as for the simple section of the scarf. If so, experiment with using a different hook size to keep both parts of the scarf the same width, or wet block the scarf to shape. 
  • Change color in the final yarn over of the designated rows and crochet over yarn tails when possible.

Pattern Instructions

Scarf

Bobble Section

  • With CA and larger hook, ch 24 (or any multiple of 3 ch, + 3).
  • Row 1: Turn, skip 1 ch, sc in next ch and each ch across. (23 sts)
  • Row 2: Turn, ch 1, sc in first st and each st across.
  • Row 3: Turn, ch 1, sc in first st and each st across, changing to CB in last yo of final sc. Fasten off CA.
  • Row 4: (Wrong Side) Turn, ch 1, sc in first st, [ch 1, skip 1 st, bob in next st, ch 1, skip 1 st] across to last st, sc in last st changing to CA in last yo. Fasten off CB.
  • Row 5: (Right Side) Turn, ch 1, sc in first st, [hdc into next skipped st on Row 3 working over ch from Row 4, FPsc around next bob, hdc into next skipped st on Row 3 working over ch from Row 4] across to last st, sc in next st.
  • Row 6:Turn, ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in next st and in each st across.
  • Row 7: Turn, ch 1, sc in first st and each st across, changing to MC in last yo of final sc. Fasten off CA.
  • Row 8: Rep Row 4 once.
  • Row 9: (Right Side) Turn, ch 1, sc in first st, [hdc into next skipped st on Row 7 working over ch from Row 8, FPsc around next bob, hdc into next skipped st on Row 7 working over ch from Row 8] across to last st, sc in next st.
  • Row 10:Rep Row 6 once.
  • Row 11: Rep Row 3 once.
  • Rep Rows 4-11 until scarf measures approximately 30” (76 cm) long, ending after Row 6 or Row 10.

Simple Section

  • Note: If your gauge changes between sections, see Pattern Notes for troubleshooting (changing hook and/or blocking).
  • Row 12: Rep Row 7 once.
  • Row 13: Rep Row 2 once.
  • Row 14:Rep Row 6 once.
  • Rep Rows 13-14 until scarf measures approximately 59.5” (151 cm) long, ending after Row 14.
  • Row 15: Rep Row 2 once.
  • Fasten off MC.

Finishing

  • With yarn needle, weave in remaining ends on Wrong Side of Scarf.
