Crochet Towel Holder

Materials:

  • YARN:

    • #4 Worsted Weight (2 strands held together) – We Crochet Dishie or Lion Brand Wool Ease or suitable substitute; A = Main Color; B = Contrast Color
  • TOOLS:

    • US Size (I/9) 5.5 mm crochet hook
    • Yarn Needle, Scissors, Wood Ring (2.9″/7.5 cm across with an inside measurement of 1.9″/4.8 cm)

Stitches/Abbreviations: US Terms

  • ch – chain
  • sl st – slip stitch
  • sts – stitches
  • sp – space
  • sk – skip
  • sc – single crochet
  • hdc – half double crochet
  • dc – double crochet

Notes:

  • This is worked from the bottom up starting at the ring.
  • To begin this project, stitches are worked around a wood ring. 
  • Beginning ch 1 and ch 2 of a row do not count as a stitch.
  • The main body of this is worked with 2 strands of worsted weight yarn held together. The accent color is worked with just 1 strand of worsted weight yarn. A bulky weight yarn can be substituted for the 2 strands of worsted weight held together.

Instructions Ruffle Towel Holder:

With A, attach yarn to wood ring – (to do this, create your slip knot, put the slip knot on the inside of the ring, insert hook in slip knot, while holding the ring and working yarn in the same hand, grab the working yarn with your hook by yarning over, pull the working yarn through the slip knot. This attaches your yarn around the ring to begin working Row 1. 

Row 1: Ch 1, 8 sc around ring, turn. 8 sts

Row 2: Ch 1, blo hdc in each st across, turn.

Rows 3-11: Repeat Row 2.

Row 12: Ch 1, blo sc in each st across, turn.

Row 13: Ch 2, 3 dc in each st across, turn. 24 sts

Row 14: Ch 2, (dc, ch 1) 3 times in first st, *(dc, ch 1) 3 times in next st; repeat from * across to last st, (dc, ch 1) 2 times in last st, dc in same st, turn. 72 sts, 71 ch-sps

Row 15: Join B (B is worked as a single strand here), fasten off A, ch 1, sk first, blo sl st in each st and ch sp across.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

How to use: Place towel into ring, wrap the crochet section around a stove or cabinet handle, push the ruffle section through the ring as well.
