Crochet Mug Cozy

Yarn: Any 8ply/dk cotton or cotton blend yarn

Hook: 4.25mm

General Instructions

  • Ch3 at beginning of each row counts as 1dc
  • You will work back and forth in Granny Stripe and then crochet around your work with sc to form your border and ch to form handles.

Pattern Instructions

Chain 39 + 2 ( this will fit a standard mug approx 8.5cm diameter)

If you need bigger or smaller ch any multiple of 3 + 2.

Row 1

Turn and work 1 sc in the 3rd ch from the hook and sc in each st across.

Row 2

Turn and ch3. 1dc in the base of the same ch3. *Sk 2st then 3dc in the next st. Repeat from * across. 2dc in the last st to correspond with the first.

Row 3

Turn and ch3. *3dc in the space between dc clusters. Repeat from * across ending with 1dc in the top of the turning ch to correspond with the first ch3.

Row 4

Turn and ch3. 1dc in the same st as the ch3. *3dc in the following space between dc clusters. Repeat from * across ending with 2dc in the last st to correspond with the first.

Repeat row 3

Row 6

Repeat row 4

Row 7 – Surround

Each corner will have a (sc, ch1, sc)

Turn and ch1. sc across. In last st of the row sc,ch1,sc then turn 90 degrees to continue down the side. Place 9 sc evenly along the short side. Do a sc,ch1,sc and turn 90 degrees to continue on the long side. sc all the way across. In the last st sc,ch1,sc and turn 90 degrees and place 9sc evenly along that side. ss to the first sc and ch1.

Row 8 – Final Round including handles.

sc in each st across long side and when you get to the end ch18(first handle).

Rotate your work to join your ch to the other long side and continue to sc all the way across. When you get to the end ch18(second handle) and join your ch to the first st of the final round.

Finish off and weave in any ends.
