Crochet Adorable Kitty

Crocheting adorable kitties can be such a delightful and heartwarming experience! Each stitch you make is like adding a touch of love and cuteness to your creation. The soft yarn and intricate patterns seem to come together magically, forming a sweet little companion that can bring joy to anyone who sees it. Whether you're a newbie in the world of crochet or an experienced crafter, there's something special about crafting these tiny feline friends that leaves you with a warm and fuzzy feeling inside. So grab your crochet hooks, choose your favorite yarn colors, and get ready to embark on a fun and cozy adventure in crafting these lovable crochet kitties!

Materials:

  • Weight 6 yarn
  • Size J/6.0mm
  • Stuffing
  • Safety Eyes or felt eyes and either a safety nose or some scrap cotton yarn to embroider one
  • Yarn needle
  • Stitch Marker

Abbreviations:

  • mr = magic ring
  • ch = chain
  • sc = single crochet
  • inc = increase (2 sc in next stitch)
  • dec = invisible decrease (sc 2 stitches together)
  • st = stitch
  • bo = bobble stitch
  • FO = fasten off

This pattern uses weight 6 blanket yarn. Any yarn may be used, but your crochet hook size will be different. Use a hook 1-2 sizes smaller than your yarn calls for. This pattern is in US crochet terms.

This pattern is worked in continuous rounds and using a stitch marker to mark the first stitch is recommended.

*Safety eyes are NOT recommended for children who are three years old or younger.

Bobble Stitch (bo):

If you are unfamiliar with the bobble stitch, here is how you make it:

Yarn over, insert hook into stitch and pull up a loop.

Yarn over again and pull through two loops, leaving 2 loops on your hook.

Continue these steps until you have 5 loops on your hook.

Yarn over and pull through all 5 loops. Chain 1 to finish stitch.

Pattern:

R1: 10 sc in a magic ring

R2: 10 inc (20)

R3: 5 sc, bo, 8 sc, bo, 5 sc

R4-5 (2 rounds): 20 sc

R6: 6 sc, bo, 8 sc, bo, 4 sc

R7-11 (5 rounds): 20 sc

Single crochet a few stitches until you reach the left side of the kitty so that when you fold the body in half, the arms and legs are centered in the front. It takes me 5 stitches. FO.

Place the safety eyes in rounds between rows 8-9 and embroider a nose. Stuff the body, but not too full. Fold the body in half and whip stitch across the top to close. This naturally creates two little ears, and you can pinch them to make them more pronounced.

Insert your hook into the middle of the back of the kitty, at row 3. Chain 6. Beginning in the second chain from the hook, 5 sc down the chain. FO and weave in your ends.
