Materials:

For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-
400 grams of Stylecraft Special DK in colour 1
100 grams of Stylecraft Special DK in colour 2
6.00mm & 5.00mm Clover crochet hooks

TENSION – 4dc and 4 rows of dc measures approx 1 Inch

With colour 1 and 6.00mm hook make 123ch loosely, work 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into each ch to end. Turn. (122dc)
Row 2 to 9 – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each dc to end. Turn.

Row 10 – 3ch, * miss 1dc, 1tr into each of next 2dc, working over last 2tr made, work 1tr into last missed dc, (this makes the cross), * rpt from * to * to last dc, work 1tr into dc. Turn.

Row 11 to 19 – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each st to end. Turn.

Rpt Rows 10 to 19 eleven more times or until work measures approx 32.5 Inches. Turn.

Blanket Edge – Change to 5.00mm hook, 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to last dc, 3dc into dc, work 128dc evenly into row ends down first side of blanket,
 3dc into corner, 1dc into each ch along cast on edge, 3dc into corner, work 128dc evenly into row ends up second side of blanket, 1dc into corner, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each dc all around 4 sides of blanket, working 3dc into corners and ss to first dc on the end of each row. Turn. Fasten off.

Join in colour 2 and starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 7 more rows in dc, working 3dc into corners and ss to first dc on the end of each row. Turn.

Next Row – 1ch, (1dc, 3ch, 1dc) into base of 1ch, * miss 1dc, (1dc, 3ch, 1dc) into next dc, * rpt from * to * around all 4 sides of blanket to last dc, miss dc, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Fasten off.

Finishing – Weave in all loose ends of yarn and trim off.
