Crochet Apple Blossom Time Square

Materials:
RH 4 ply Color A = Aran, Color B = Country Blue, Color C = Country Rose

Crochet Hook: Size E and F or size needed for gauge. Size G for edging.

Gauge: Each Square = 6"

Note:

Skill level: Intermediate.

Blocking: Block lightly & briefly w/a warm damp pressing cloth on the reverse side of the square w/ med-hot iron.

Pattern Stitches

5dc cluster (5dc cl):

Holding back last loop on hook for each dc, 5 dc in ch 2 sp, yo, and draw through 6 loops on hook

Bullion Stitch (Bullion St.):

Yo 10 times LOOSELY, EVENLY, insert hook into next st, yo, draw up a loop, even with the 10 loops, yo, draw through all 12 loops, (wiggling the hook and rolling the yarn back and forth) - Bullion made.

Instructions

Beginning:

w/E hook and color C ch 4, join w/ sl st

Round 1:

Ch 6, trc in ring, (ch2, trc in ring) 6 times more, ch 2, join w/ sl st in 4th ch of ch 6, FO. 8 ch 2 spaces

Round 2:

Join in color A in ch 2 sp, ch 3, holding back last loop of each st., 4 dc in same ch 2 sp, yo, draw through all 5 loops, ch 6, (work 5dc cl, ch 6) 7 times. Join w/ sl st, FO color A. 8 ch 6 sps.

Round 3:

w/ color B and size F join in top of 5dc cl. Ch 1, sc in same st, (6 sc in next ch 6 sp, sc in next 5dc cl.) 8 times, ending w/ sl st in first sc.

Round 4:

ch 3, dc in same st. dc in next 6 sc, [2dc in next sc (on top of 5dc cl), dc in next 6 scs] 7 times. Join w/ sl st, FO color B

Round 5:

w/ color C and size F, join in the ridge in back of the 1st dc of 2dc (on top of 5dc cl) from Round 4. Ch 1, sc in same st. (ch 2, sk 1, sc in back ridge) around, end ch 2, sl st in joining sc. 32 ch 2 sps.

Round 6:

sl st in next ch 2 sp, ch 3, (work 10 yo bullion, ch 1) twice in next sp, 2 dc in next sp, 2 hdc in next sp. (2sc in next ch 2 sp), twice, 2 hdc in next sp, 2dc in next sp, (work 10 yo bullion, ch 1) twice in next sp, ch 2, (work 10 yo bullion, ch 1) twice in next ch 2 sp. Con't around, working (10 yo bullion, ch 1) twice, ch 2, in last ch 2 sp, join w/ sl st in top of 1st bullion. FO

Round 7:

Join color B w/ size G in sp before first two bullions of corner. Work 2 sc in sp before each of first two bullions of corner, 3 sc in corner ch 2 sp, 2 sc in sp after each of last two bullions of corner. Sc across to make 20 sc each side 3 sc in corners. Continue around, join w/ sl st FO

Finish off and weave in all ends.
