Materials:

Approx. 1 ozs worsted weight 100% cotton yarn in Main color (MC) and small amount of Contrasting Color (CC); aluminum crochet hook size G (4.5 mm) OR Size Needed for Gauge; tapestry needle to weave in ends

Gauge:
4 dc = 1", 1 dc row and 2 sc rows (in pattern) = 1"

Finished Size:
About 8¼" square

Notes:
ALL Rows are worked in Back Loops Only to create a "ridged" effect
Front of dc rows is Right Side (RS) of work
Turning ch-3 counts as first dc
Turning ch-4 counts as first dc and 1 chain

Row 1: with MC, ch 31, dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across, ch 1, turn. (29 dc)

Row 2: sc in each dc across, ch 4, turn. (29 sc)
.
Row 3: sk next sc, dc in next sc, (ch 1, sk next sc, dc in next sc) across, ch 1, turn. (15 dc, 14 ch-1 sps)

Row 4: sc in each dc and each ch across, ch 3, turn. (29 sc)
.
Row 5: dc in next sc and in each sc across, ch 1, turn. (29 dc)

Rows 6 - 17: (Repeat rows 2 - 5) 3 times. At end of last row, Fasten Off.

Edging:
With RS facing, join CC with sc in any corner, 2 sc in same st, sc evenly around with 3 sc in each corner, join with sl st in top of first sc. Fasten Off CC. Weave in ends.
