Notes

  • Beginning chains do not count as stitches.
  • This pattern is worked in an even multiple; the instructions are written for a beginning ch-9, but you can add or remove chains in multiples of 2.
  • The instructions are written to fit a standard 1/2 quart mason jar. For different size jars, adjust by multiples of 2 in the beginning chain.

Instructions

R1. Working in the back bump of the chain across:
Ch 13, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn (12)

R2-5. Ch 1, sc across, turn (12)

R6. Ch 1, hdc in 1st st, skip next stitch, *(sc, dc) in next st, skip 1* across, hdc in last st, turn (2 hdc, 5 sc, 5 dc)

R7. Ch 1, hdc in 1st st, skip dc, *(sc, dc) in sc, skip dc* across, hdc in last st, turn (2 hdc, 5 sc, 5 dc)

Repeat R7 until the fabric measures 11” or matches the measurement of your jar/cup.

R8. Ch 1, sc in the end of evenly down the side, in every stitch across the bottom, evenly up the other side, and every stitch across the top, keeping a loose tension; Fasten.

  • Sew buttons over R3, spaced evenly apart.
