Crochet Tiny Teddy Bear

Size: approximately 3-1/2 inches tall

Materials:

  • I used Red Heart Soft Yarn in Color # 1882 Toast
  • Size G Hook
  • Stitch marker (I use a small piece of a contrasting color yarn)
  • Small amount of black yarn for eyes, mouth, nose
  • Small amount of fiberfill

Gauge: Not important

Abbreviations: sc = single crochet, ch = chain, st = stitch, sl st = slip stitch, sc dec = single crochet decrease

Notes: Rounds are worked in continuous spirals, do not join. Do not turn at the end of each round.

Body

  1. With toast, ch 2
  2. 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Mark first st for beginning of round and move marker up for each round.
  3. 2 sc in each sc – 10
  4. *2 sc, 1 sc in next 4 sc* around – 12
  5. sc in each sc around – 12
  6. sc in each sc around – 12
  7. *sc dec, sc in next 4 sc* around -10
  8. sc dec around – 5
  9. Stuff with fiberfill
  10. Finish off.

Head

  1. With toast, ch 2
  2. 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Mark first st for beginning of round and move marker up for each round.
  3. *2 sc, 1 sc in next 3 sc* around – 10
  4. *2 sc, 1 sc in next 4 sc* around – 12
  5. sc in each sc around – 12
  6. *sc dec, sc in next 4 sc* around -10
  7. sc dec around – 5
  8. Finish off leaving a long yarn tail for sewing head to body later.
  9. I don’t stuff the head yet, I wait and stuff it after I sew on the snout and eyes.

Snout

  1. With toast, ch 2
  2. 6 sc in second ch from hook
  3. sl st
  4. Finish off leaving a long tail for sewing onto head
  5. Sew mouth/nose onto snout with small amount of black yarn.

Arms – Make 2

  1. With toast, ch 2
  2. 4 sc in second ch from hook
  3. sc in each sc around for three rows4 sc for each row.
  4. sl st
  5. Finish off leaving a long tail for sewing onto body

Legs - Make 2

  1. With toast, ch 2
  2. 5 sc in second ch from hook
  3. sc in each sc around for two rows5 sc for each row.
  4. sl st
  5. Finish off leaving a long tail for sewing onto body

Ears

  1. ch 2
  2. 4 sc in 2nd ch from hook
  3. finish off leaving a long tail for sewing onto head

Assembly

  • Sew snout onto head
  • Sew eyes onto head. I made french knots for the eyes.
  • Sew ears onto head
  • Stuff head
  • Sew head onto body
  • sew arms and legs onto body

You’re done!
