Crochet Simple Snowman

Supplies:
G hook – 4mm
Worsted weight yarn ( white for snowman and any color for hat and scarf )
Yarn needle
Poly-fil stuffing
8mm safety eyes

Terms:
hk – hook
ch – chain
mc – magic circle
sc – single crochet
inc – increase
dec – decrease

Legs: make two
1. 6sc in a magic circle – 6
2. inc around – 12
3. ( sc, inc )6x – 18
4. ( sc 2, inc )6x – 24
5. sc around in the back loops only – 24
6 – 8. sc around – 24 each row
9. dec 6, sc 12 – 18
10. dec 3, sc 12 – 15
11 – 16. sc around – 15 each row
Fasten off, weave in ends, stuff feet and legs.

Body:

Line up the legs.
Insert the hook into the first leg from the inside to out.
Insert the hook into the second leg from the outside to in.
Sc the two stitches together, joining the legs together.
Sc two more – total of 3sc join

1. continue to single crochet around the legs now, 12scs on each leg for a total of 24
2 -3. sc around – 24 each row
4. ( sc 5, inc )4x – 28
5 – 10. sc around – 28 each row
11. ( sc 5, dec )4x – 24
12. sc around – 24
13. ( sc 4, dec )4x – 20
14. sc around – 20
Start stuffing now
15. ( sc 3, dec )4x – 16
16. ( sc 2, dec )4x – 12
17. ( sc, dec )4x – 8
18. dec 4
Fasten off, sew shut and weave in ends.

Head:
1. 6sc in magic circle – 6
2. inc around – 12
3. ( sc, inc )6x – 18
4. ( sc 2, inc )6x – 24
5. ( sc 3, inc )6x – 30
6. ( sc 14, inc )2x – 32
7 – 12. sc around – 32 each row
13. ( sc 14, dec )2x – 30
14. ( sc 3, dec )6x – 24
Insert and attach eyes now. I put mine between row #7 & #8 4sts apart.
15. ( sc 2, dec )6x – 18
16. ( sc, dec )6x – 12
17. dec 6
Stuff firmly, fasten off, leave a tail for sewing.

Arms: make two
1. 6sc in mc – 6
2. inc around – 12
3. sc around – 12
4. sc 11, in the next st;
yarn over hk, insert into st.
yarn over hk, pull through st, you will have 3 loops on hk now.
yarn over hk, insert into st, yarn over hk, pull through st.
you will have 5 loops on your hk now.
*yarn over and pull through two of the loops*
repeat between ** until there is one loop on hk
5. dec 6 – 6
6. ( sc 2, inc )2x – 8
Stuff hand firmly
7 – 15. sc around – each row 9times
Stuff arm about halfway.
Fasten off, sew top shut and leave a tail for sewing.

Scarf:
The scarf can be any length you’d like. Just chain as long as you need for your required length.
Here is mine:
1. ch 70
2. Starting in the second ch from the hk, sc across – 69
3. ch 1, turn, switch to second color, slip stitch across – 69
Fasten off, attach fringe if desired.

Hat:
Starting in second color
1. 5sc in magic circle – 5
2. inc around – 10
3. ( sc, inc )5x – 15
4. ( sc 2, inc )5x – 20
5. ( sc 3, inc )5x – 25
6. ( sc 4, inc )5x – 30
7. ( sc 5, inc )5x – 35
8 – 11. sc around – 35 each row
12. In front loops only: ( sc 6, inc )5x – 40
13. ( sc 6, dec )5 x – 35
Fasten off, weave in all ends.
Attach Pom Pom.
