Crochet Hook:Size I-9 (5.50 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.

Abbreviations

beg - beginning
ch - chain
hdc - half double crochet
dc - double crochet
lp - loop
rem - remaining
rep - repeat
rnd - round
sc - single crochet
sl st - slip stitch
sp - space
st - stitch
tr - treble crochet
yo - yarn over

Special Stitches

Single Crochet Decrease (sc dec):Draw up a lp in each of next 2 sts, yo and draw through 3 lps on hook.

Single Crochet Decrease Skip A Stitch (sc-1-dec):Draw up a lp in next st, skip next st, draw up another lp in next st, yo and draw through 3 lps on hook.

JOINING WITH SC

When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.

TO CHANGE COLORSWork last stitch before color change to last step, with new color, yo hook, pull new color through remaining lps on hook. Drop unused color to wrong side. Do not work over unused color.

Afghan

Row 1:(Right Side) With Blue, ch 162; sc in 2nd ch from hook, [sc in next 7 ch, 3 sc in next ch, sc in next 7 ch, sc-1-dec] 8 times, sc in next 7 ch, 3 sc in next ch, sc in next 8 ch.

Row 2:Ch 1, turn, working in back loops only, sc dec (over first 2 sc), [sc in next 7 sc, 3 sc in next (center) sc, sc in next 7 sc, sc-1-dec] 8 times, sc in next 7 sc, 3 sc in next (center) sc, sc in next 7 sc, sc dec (over last 2 sc).

Rows 7-10:With Variegated, rep Row 2.

At the end of Row 86, change color to Blue. Finish off Variegated and weave in ends.

Rows 87-93:With Blue, rep Row 2.

At the end of Row 93, DO NOT FINISH OFF.

EDGING

Rnd 1:With right side facing, * working in sides of rows, evenly sc across to corner *; working in unused lps on other side of starting ch, evenly sc across; rep from * to * once; join with sl st to first sc. Finish off and weave in ends.
