Yarn: #5 bulky weight – 5oz/445 yds

  • Navy (A) – 1.5 oz/60 yds
  • White (B) – 1 oz/40 yds


Crochet Hook: Size K/10.5 (6.5 mm)

Notions: Yarn Needle

Gauge: 14 sts and 14 rows = 4” in pattern

Difficulty: Beginner: Uses easy stitches with no shaping.


Abbreviations:

ch – chain
rsc – reverse single crochet
sl st – slip stitch
sc – single crochet
yo – yarn over


Notes:

  • Blanket can be adjusted by adding, or subtracting, in multiples of 2.
  • When adjusting the size be sure to consider yarn requirements.


Special Stitches:

rsc (reverse single crochet) – insert hook in stitch to the right, yo, pull up loop, yo, pull through both loops on hook.

BLANKET

With A, ch 32.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, *ch 1, skip next ch, sc in next ch, rep from * across, turn. (16 sc, 15 ch-1 sps)

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in 1st sc, *sc in ch-1 sp, ch 1, sk next sc, rep from * across to last st, sc in last sc, turn. (17 sc, 14 ch-1 sps)

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in 1st sc, *ch 1, sk next sc, sc in next ch-1 sp, rep from * across, sc in last sc, turn. (16 sc, 15 ch-1 sps)

Rows 4 – 34: Repeat Rows 2 & 3. Change to color B at end of Row 34.

BORDER

Round 1: 3 sc in corner, *work 1 sc in each row-end across side of blanket**, 3 sc in corner st, sc in each ch across bottom, 3 sc in corner st, rep from * to **, sc in each st across top, dc in same st as first 2 sc, sk st in first sc to join, do not turn.

Round 2: ch 1, rsc in each st around, sl st in 1st rsc to join.
Fasten off.


Anchor

Step 1: Ch 5, sl st to form ring, work 7 sc in ring, sl st in 1st sc to join.

Step 2: Ch 4, working in back ridges of ch, sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across.

Step 3: Ch 14, working in back ridges of ch, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in next 5 chs.

Step 4: Work (sc, ch 2, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc) in back ridge of next ch.

Step 5: Ch 7, working in back ridge of ch, sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across, sl st in next ch (from step 4).

Step 6: Sc in back ridge of each ch (leftover from step 3) up to magic ring.

Step 7: Ch 4, working in back ridge of ch, sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across, sl st in sc to join. Fasten off, leaving approx 12” for sewing onto lovey.
