Crochet Hook: 6mm [US J-10].

Yarn needle, 1 large button.
Scarf measures 6½” x 27”.

GAUGE: 15 sts = 4”; 16 rows = 4” in sc. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.

SCARF

Ch 26.

Row 1 (Wrong Side): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across; turn – 25 sc.

Row 2 (Right Side): Ch 1, sc in first 3 sc, [ch 5, skip next 3 sc, sc in next 5 sc] twice, ch 5, skip next 3 sc, sc in last 3 sc; turn.

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in first 2 sc, [ch 3, sc in next ch-5 space, ch 3, skip next sc, sc in next 3 sc] twice, ch 3, sc in ch-5 space, ch 3, skip next sc, sc in last 2 sc; turn.

Row 4: Ch 1, sc in first sc, [ch 3, sc in next ch-3 space, sc in next sc, sc in next space, ch 3, skip next sc, sc in next sc] 3 times; turn.

Row 5: Ch 5 (counts as dc and ch 2), sc in next space, sc in next 3 sc, sc in space, [ch 5, sc in next space, sc in next 3 sc, sc in next space] twice, ch 2, dc in last sc; turn.

Row 6: Ch 1, sc in dc, ch 3, skip next sc, sc in next 3 sc, [ch 3, sc in next space, ch 3, skip next sc, sc in next 3 sc] twice, ch 3, sc in 3rd ch of ch-5; turn.

Row 7: Ch 1, sc in first sc, sc in space, ch 3, skip next sc, sc in next sc, [ch 3, sc in next space, sc in next sc, sc in next space, ch 3, skip next sc, sc in next sc] twice, ch 3, sc in space, sc in last sc; turn.

Row 8: Ch 1, sc in first 2 sc, [sc in next space, ch 5, sc in next space, sc in next 3 sc] twice, sc in next space, ch 5, sc in next space, sc in last 2 sc; turn.

Repeat Rows 3-8 eleven times more or to desired length.

Next Row: Ch 1, sc in each st across and work 3 sc in each ch-5 space; turn – 25 sc.

Edging

Row 1 (Right Side): Ch 1, sc in each st across; turn.

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in first sc, * ch 3, skip next sc, sc in next sc; repeat from * across. Fasten off.

With right side facing, attach yarn on opposite side and repeat Rows 1 and 2 of edging. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Sew on button to desired location, using ch-space as buttonhole
