Star Facecloth Pattern

Cloth measures: 7 inches
Hook: H (5 mm) US sized hook (you can use a G hook too)

Materials:
Sugar & Cream Cotton scraps (about 1+ ozs)

With center color, Ch 5, Sl St to form ring.

Rnd 1
Ch 2, (counts as 1 Hdc) in ring work 2 Hdc, Ch 1.
*3 Hdc in ring, Ch 1.* Repeat 4 times. Sl St to top of Ch 2.
(5 corners)

Rnd 2
Sl st over to corner space, Ch 2, 2 Hdc, Ch 1, 3 Hdc, all in the same Ch-1 corner space.
*Sk next 3 Hdc (shell), 3 Hdc, Ch 1, 3 Hdc, all in the next Ch-1 corner space.*
Repeat between *. Sl St to top of the beginning Ch-2. FO.

Rnd 3
Attach new cotton color in any corner space. Ch 2 (counts as 1 Hdc) 2 Hdc, Ch 1, 3 Hdc, all in the corner space.
*Sk 3 Hdc, make 3 Hdc in between shells. In next corner point work 3 Hdc, Ch 1, 3 Hdc all in corner sp.* Repeat between * around cloth, join with a Sl St to top of Ch-2.

Rnd 4
Ch 2 (counts as 1 Hdc) 2 Hdc, Ch 1, 3 Hdc, all in the corner space.
*Sk 3 Hdc, work 1 Hdc in between shells. In next corner point work 3 Hdc, Ch 1, 3 Hdc all in corner sp.* Repeat between * around cloth, join with a Sl St to top of Ch-2. Always Sl St over to corner space to begin next round.

Rnd 5
Ch 2, 2 Hdc, Ch 1, 3 Hdc, all in the corner space. *Work 3 Hdc in the Hdc space on the sides. Skip center stitch space and work 3 Hdc in the next Hdc space on side between the points. (You will have two sets of 3-Hdc between the points.) In next corner point work 3 Hdc, Ch 1, 3 Hdc all in corner sp.* Repeat between * around cloth, join with a Sl St to top of Ch-2. (Change colors as desired to use up scraps of cotton.)

Rnd 6
Ch 2, 2 Hdc, Ch 1, 3 Hdc, all in the corner space.
*Sk 3 Hdc, make 3 Hdc in between shells. In next corner point work 3 Hdc, Ch 1, 3 Hdc all in corner sp.* Repeat between * around cloth, join with a Sl St to top of Ch-2.
(For larger cloth or if you are using a G hook, you can repeat round 6.) The optional round of shells will result in a 8 inch long cloth if you are using a H crochet hook.

Rnd 7 (Edging)
Attach contrasting cotton yarn if desired or just finish using the attached yarn for edging in any Ch-1 point space. Ch 1, Work Sc around evenly around edge of cloth. Join with Sl St to Ch-1. FO.
