Materials Needed:
  • 2 skeins of WS Color Theory yarn (100% acrylic, size 4)
  • 4 mm crochet hook


Creating the Panels

Crochet Summer Skirt

Row 1:

Start with a slip knot

Chain 4

Yarn over, double crochet in the first chain

Chain 1

Yarn over, double crochet in the same space

Row 2:

Chain 3, turn

Double crochet on top of first stitch to increase

Double crochet in the chain 1 space

Double crochet on top of next stitch

Double crochet in the next chain 1 space

Two double crochets on top of the last stitch

For Row 3:

Chain 4, turn

Double crochet on top of first stitch

Chain 1, skip a stitch, double crochet in the next

Repeat pattern

End with chain 1 and double crochet on the last stitch

Crochet Summer Skirt

Row 4:

Chain 3, turn

Increase with a double crochet on the first stitch

Double crochet in each chain 1 space and stitch

End with two double crochets on the last stitch

Rows 5 and Onward:

Alternate Row 3 (mesh) and Row 4 (double crochet)

Continue until panel reaches half your hip measurement


Second Panel:

Make a second identical panel

30 rows each 


Joining the Panels

Align the two panels right sides together

Slip stitch them together along the edge


Working in Rounds

Round 1:

Chain 4, turn

Skip first stitch, double crochet in next

Chain 1, skip a stitch, double crochet in next — repeat around

Round 2:

Chain 3, turn

Double crochet in chain 1 space

Double crochet on top of next stitch

Continue to the end

Subsequent Rounds:

Alternate mesh round (start with chain 4) and solid round (start with chain 3)

Make 14 additional rounds (for a total of 44 rows including panels)
