Materials:

• Size H, 5.00 mm crochet hook
• Medium weight (size 4) yarn, I used Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Yarn in “Blue Spruce”. You will also need Faux fur yarn, I used Lion Brands Go For Faux in “Comet”.
• Tapestry needle
• 1.5″ button

Abbreviations:

ch- chain

st(s)- stitch (es)

sc- single crochet

hk- hook

sc2tog- single crochet two together

hdc- half double crochet

sl st- slip stitch

Gauge:

7 sts x 5 rows = 2″ square

Final measurement:

The headband measures approx. 19.5″ x 4″ (unbuttoned).

Pattern:

Ch 6

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from the hk and each ch to end, turn (5).

Row 2: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in first st, sc next 3 sts, 2 sc in last st, turn (7).

Row 3: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across, turn (7).

Row 4: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in first st, sc next 5 sts, 2 sc in last st, turn (9).

Row 5: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across, turn (9).

Row 6: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in first st, sc next 7 sts, 2 sc in last st, turn (11).

Row 7: Ch 2, hdc in each st across, turn (11).

Repeat rows 7 until your piece measures 18″ from the end.

Decreasing:

Row 1: Ch 1, turn, sc 11 sts evenly across, turn (11).

Row 2. Ch 1, turn, sc2tog, sc next 7 sts, sc2tog, turn (9).

Row 3: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across, turn (9).

Row 4: Ch 1, turn, sc2tog, sc next 5 sts, sc2tog, turn (7).

Row 5: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across, turn (7).

Row 6: Ch 1, turn, sc2tog, sc next 3 sts, sc2tog, turn (5).

Row 7: Sc 5, sl st in end st (button hole), ch 1, turn, 5 sc in ch 5 space, sc in last st and fasten off. Weave in ends.

Sew on button and fasten off.

Trim:

Pick up a st with faux fur yarn and sc evenly around the headband.

Sl st in first st and fasten off.
