Crocheting a simple basket can be such a fun and rewarding project! Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned crocheter, creating a basket adds a touch of handmade charm to your space. With just a few basic stitches and some yarn, you can whip up a cute and functional basket in no time. Plus, the best part is you can customize it with your favorite colors to match your decor perfectly. So grab your crochet hook, pick out some yarn, and get ready to create a lovely little basket that will bring a cozy touch to your home!
The basis on this basket is using hdc stitches, which give the beautiful look. You might want to look up on how to do a hdc and a magic ring, if you are a beginner.
Here we go.
Pattern
Start with a magic ring.
Round 1: Ch 1, 8 sc into magic ring, join with sl st.
Round 2: Ch 2, 2 hdc in each st, join with sl st (total 16 hdc).
Round 3: Ch 2, (2 hdc in 1st st, hdc in next st), rep around and join with sl st (total 24 hdc).
Round 4: Ch 2, (2 hdc in 1st st, hdc in next 2 st), rep around and join with sl st (total 32 hdc).
Round 5: Ch 2, (2 hdc in 1st st, hdc in next 3 st), rep around and join with sl st (total 40 hdc).
Round 6: Ch 2, (2 hdc in 1st st, hdc in next 4 st), rep around and join with sl st (total 48 hdc).
Create as many rounds for the base to the size you want, increasing accordingly.
Round 7: Ch 1, back sc in each st, join with a sl st. (This round will create a crisp seam for the transition from base to body/wall of the basket).
Round 8: Ch 2, hdc in each st, join with sl st.
Round 9: Ch 1, back sc in each st, join with sl st.
Repeat Round 8 & 9 until desired height and finish off by weaving in the ends.
