Materials:
- Lion Brand Made With Love The Cottony One Yarn.
- US size G 4.0 mm crochet hook
- Stitch marker
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
Size (approximate): 5″
Pattern Notes:
- We’ll be working in continuous rounds. Unless mentioned specifically, do not join at the end of your rounds.
- If you find that your coasters aren’t laying flat, you can steam them with a steam iron (do not place the iron directly on the coasters) or use a clothing steamer to help them lay flat. I personally don’t bother with this, as the coasters flatten pretty quickly with use.
Abbreviations (US):
ch – chain
st(s) – stitch(es)
hdc – half double crochet
sc – single crochet
inc – increase (work 2 stitches in the same stitch)
Pattern
To begin Ch 2
Round 1: 8 hdc into 2nd chain from the hook. (8 sts)
Remember to place your stitch marker in the 1st stitch of each round. This will help you keep track of when you’re starting a new round.
Round 2: Inc in each stitch around. (16 sts)
Round 3: *Inc, hdc in next st.* Repeat from * to * around. (24 sts)
Round 4: *Inc, hdc in next 2 sts.* Repeat from * to * around. (32 sts)
Round 5: *Inc, hdc in next 3 sts.* Repeat from * to * around. (40 sts)
Round 6: *Inc, hdc in next 4 sts.* Repeat from * to * around. Sl st to the first stitch of the next round. (48 sts)
Round 7: Ch 1, sc in the same stitch. *Place 5 hdc in next st, skip next st, sl st in next st.* Repeat from * to * around.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
