Crochet Adorable Whale

Materials Needed:
1 skein gray worsted weight yarn
Small amount of white worsted weight yarn
Small amount of black worsted weight yarn (for embroidering eyes and mouth)
G hook

Special Stitches:

Back Fluke (use gray worsted weight yarn):
With the back side of the front fluke facing you, join yarn in the furthest right unworked st.
Row 1: 1 sc in each of the next 7 sts, ch 1, turn.
Row 2: 1 sc in each of the next 7 sts, ch 2, turn.
Row 3: 3 tr in the next st, 1 dc in the next st, 1 hdc in the next st, 1 sc in the next st, 1 hdc in the next, 1 dc in the next st, 3 tr in the next st, ch 2, turn.
Row 4: 3 tr in the first st, 1 tr in the next st, 1 dc in the next st, 1 hdc in the next st, 1 sc in the next st, 1 sl st in the next st, 1 sc in the next st, 1 hdc in the next st, 1 dc in the next st, 1 tr in the next st, 3 tr in the last st, ch 2, turn.
Row 5: 2 dc in the first st, 1 dc in each of the next 5 sts, sc3tog, 1 dc in each of the next 5 sts, 2 dc in the last st, finish off.
With front fluke facing you, join gray worsted weight yarn to the far right side through both flukes. Work 8 sc up the right side, rotate but don’t turn, picot in first point, 7 sc across top right side, 1 slip st in the middle, 7 sc across top left side, picot in second point, rotate but don’t turn, 8 sc down the left side of fluke, finish off and weave in ends.
Use small amount of black worsted weight yarn and embroider mouth and eyes.
Spray (use white worsted weight yarn):
Round 1: make an adjustable ring, ch1, 6 sc in ring (6 sc)
Round 2: working blo, 1 sc in each st around. (6sc)
Rounds 3 – 11: 1 sc in each st around. (6 sc)
Round 12: working flo, *1 sc in the next st, 5 dc in the next st, repeat from * 2 more times. (3 sc, 3 shells)
Rounds 13 – 14: *1 sc in the next sc, skip 2 dc, 5 dc in the next dc, skip 2 dc, repeat from * 2 more times. At the end of round 14, sl st in first sc, finish off, weave in ends. Stuff and sew to the top of the whale.
