1 ball cotton worsted weight and small amount of contrasting color
Size "G" hook
Black felt for eye
Body worked in rounds.
Note: To make potholder, make 2.
1. Ch 4, 11 dc in first ch. Join (12 dc)
2. Ch 3, 1 dc in same place and 2 dc in each dc around. Join (24 dc)
3. Ch 3, 1 dc in same place, (2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in next dc) around. Join (36 dc)
4. Ch 3, 1 dc in next dc, (2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in next 2 dc) around. Join (48 dc)
5. Ch 3, 1 dc in next 2 dc (2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in next 3 dc) around. (60 dc) Do not join. Finish off. (This gap will eventually be the mouth)
Tail
1. Working in rows and with right side facing, join contrasting color in 26th dc, ch 3, 1 dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in next 4 dc, ch , turn
2. Ch 3, 1 dc in same place and 1 dc in next 8 dc, 2 dc in last dc. Ch 3, turn
3. Ch 3, 1 dc in same place and 1 dc in next 10 dc, 2 dc in last dc. Ch 3, turn.
4. Ch 3, 1 dc in same place and 1 dc in next 6 dc, ch 3, sl st in next 2 dc, ch 3, 1 dc in next 5 dc, 2 dc in last dc. Finish off.
Fin and Finishing
1. Attach contrasting color in 8th dc from tail. Ch 4, trc in same place and in next dc, 1 dc in next 2 dc, 1 hdc in next 2 dc, sc in each dc to mouth opening, 3 sc at corner of mouth, 2 sc in bar of next 2 dc, 3 dc at other corner of mouth, sc in rem. sc to tail, 2 sc in each dc bar, and 3 sc at each corner, sc in remaining dc. Sl st in base of first trc. Finish off.
