Materials: 

  • Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn; White – 1½ oz, 75 yd (45 g, 69 m) Red – 1 oz, 50 yd, (30 g, 46 m) Pink – ½ oz, 25 yd (15 g, 23 m) Small amount Black;
  • Crochet Hook: Size H-8 (5.00 mm)

JOINING WITH SC

When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.

Special Stitches

Single Crochet Decrease: (sc dec): Draw up a lp in each of next 2 sts, yo and draw through 3 lps on hook.


DISHCLOTH

Face

Row 1: (Right Side) Starting in center with Pink, ch 4, sl st in first ch to form ring; ch 3 (counts as first dc now and throughout), 6 dc in ring. (7 dc)
Row 2: Ch 3, turn, dc in first dc, 2 dc in next 6 dc. (14 dc)
Row 3: Ch 3, turn, dc in first dc, dc in next dc, [2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc] 7 times. (21 dc) Finish off and weave in ends.
Row 4: With wrong side facing, join White with sc to first dc, tr in same st, [(sc, tr) in next dc, sc in next dc, tr in next dc] 6 times; (sc, tr) in next dc, sc last dc. (29 sts)
Row 5: Ch 1 turn, sc in each st across. (29 sc)
Row 6: Ch 1, turn, sc in first sc, [tr in next sc, sc in next sc] across. (29 sts)
Row 7: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in first st, [sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st] 7 times. (37 sc)
Row 8: Rep Row 6. (37 sts)
Row 9: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in first st, [sc in next 4 sts, 2 sc in next st] 7 times, sc in last sc. (45 sc)
Row 10: Rep Row 6. (45 sts)
Row 11: Ch 1, turn, sc in first sc, (tr in next sc, sc in next sc) across. (45 sts)

Row 1: Ch 1, DO NOT TURN (wrong side facing), working in ends of rows, sc in first row, [tr in next row, sc in next row] 4 times (across White rows), (tr, sc) in each of next 3 Pink rows, tr in center ch, (tr, sc) in each of next 3 Pink rows, [tr in next row, sc in next row] 4 times, sc in last row. (31 sts)
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc dec, sc across to last 2 sts, sc dec. (29 sc)
Row 3: Ch 1, turn, sc in first sc, [tr in next sc, sc in next sc] 14 times. (29 sts)
Row 4: Ch 1, turn, working in back lps only, [sc dec] twice, sc in each st across to last 4 sts, [sc dec] twice. (25 sc)
Rows 5-10: Ch 1, turn, working in both lps, sc dec, sc across to last 2 sc, sc dec. (23, 21, 19, 17, 15, 13 sc)

Edging

Mustache 

Row 1: With White, ch 14, sc in 2nd ch from hook, [tr in next ch, sc in next ch] 6 times. (13 sts)
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across. Finish off leaving long end.

Nose

With Pink, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Finish off leaving long end.

Eyes (Make 2)

Rnd 1: Starting at center, with Black, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook; join with sl st to first sc. Finish off leaving long end.

Hat

Row 1: With Red, ch 24, sc in 2nd ch from hook, [sc in next ch] across. (23 sc)
Rows 2-3: Ch 1, turn, sc dec, [sc in next sc] across to last 2 sc, sc dec. (21, 19 sc)
Row 4: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across.
Row 5: Rep Row 2. (17 sc)
Rows 6-19: Rep Rows 4-5 seven times.
At the end of Rnd 19 there will be 3 sc.
Row 20: Sc dec, sc in next sc. (2 sc)
Row 21: Sc dec. Finish off leaving long end.

Pom-Pom

Rnd 1: With White, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, join with sl st to first sc. (6 sc)
Rnd 2: Ch 2, 2 sc in each sc around; join. (12 sc) Finish off leaving long end.

Finishing

- Sew Hat to Dishcloth. Fold point over and sew Pom-Pom on.
- Sew Nose to Mustache.
- Sew Eyes and Mustache to Dishcloth.
