You’ll need:

4 balls #02001 Pink (MC) of Softee Baby Solids from Bernat (Art. 166030) 5 oz. (140 g); 455 yds. (416 m); DK weight;

1 ball #31302 Her Jeans Ombre (A) of Softee Baby Ombre from Bernat (Art. 166031) 4.25 oz (120 g); 380 yds. (435 m); DK weight;

Crochet hook 5 mm;

20-inch zipper;

Blunt-end yarn needle.


Size: 6 moths-1 year


Stitches control: With 2 strands of yarn, 14 hdc and 11 rows = 4 inches (10 cm). Take time to check your gauge.


Note: work with 2 strands of yarn throughout. Body is worked in one piece to armholes.


Instructions

Body

With 2 strands of MC, ch 92. Row 1 (RS): Hdc in 3rd ch from hook, hdc in each ch to end; turn -- 90 hdc. Note: Ch-2 at beg of each row down not count as hdc. Row 2: Ch 2, hdc in each hdc across; turn. Rep Row 2 until piece measures 19 inches, ending with a WS row.


Left Front

Next row: Ch 2, hdc in each of next 20 hdc, turn. Leave rem sts unworked. Work 5 rows even, ending at neck edge.


Shape Neck

Next row (RS): Sl st across first 3 sts, ch 2, hdc in each st to end of row; turn. Next row: Ch 2, hdc in each hdc to last 3 hdc; turn. Leave rem sts unworked -- 14 hdc. Work 3 rows even; fasten off.


Back

Sk next 9 hdc, join yarn with sl st in next hdc, ch 2, hdc in same sp, hdc in each of next 31 hdc; turn. Leave rem sts unworked. Work 10 rows even on 32 sts; fasten off.


Right Front

Sk next 9 hdc, join yarn with sl st in next hdc, ch 2, hdc in same sp, hdc in each hdc to end; turn -- 20 hdc. Work to match Left Front, reversing all shaping.


Sleeve

With 2 strands of MC, ch 26. Row 1 (RS): Hdc in 3rd ch from hook, hdc in each ch to end, turn -- 24 hdc. Rep Row 2 as for Body for 6 inches; fasten off.


Finishing

Front Edging

Row 1: Join 2 strands of A with sl st at corner of Left Front next edge and work 1 row sc evenly down to lower edge; turn. Rows 2-3: Ch 1, sc in each sc to end; turn. Fasten off. Work same edging on Right Front edge, joining yarn at lower edge. Fold sides toward center front and sew in zipper. Sew bottom edge closed. Sew shoulder seams. Sew in Sleeves.


Hood

With 2 strands of A, make 7 motifs, working Rnds 1-2 only. Join motifs tog in a row.


Motif

With MC, ch 4; join with sl st in first ch form ring. Rnd 1: Ch 3 -- counts as dc; 2 dc in ring, (ch 3, 3 dc in ring) 3 times, ch 3; join with sl st in top of ch-3. Rnd 2: Sl st across to next ch-3 sp; work ch 2, 2 dc, ch 3, and 3 dc in same sp -- first corner made; *ch 1, work 3 dc, ch 3, and 3 dc in next ch-3 sp -- corner made; rep from * twice more, ch 1; join. Rnd 3: SI st across and into ch-3 sp; work first corner in same sp; *ch 2, 3 dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, work corner in next ch-3 sp; rep from * twice more; ch1, 3 dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1; join. Rnd 4: Sl st across and into ch-3 sp; work first corner in same sp; *(ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-1 sp) twice; ch 1, work corner in next ch-3 sp; rep from * twice more; (ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-1 sp) twice; ch 1, join. Rnd 5: Sl st across and into ch-3 sp; work first corner in same sp; *(ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-1 sp) 3 times; ch 1, work corner in next ch-3 sp; rep from * twice more; (ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-1 sp) 3 times; ch 1, join.

Join 2 strands of MC with sl st to corner of one long edge, ch 2 and work 56 hdc evenly across; turn. Work even in hdc until piece measures 7 inches from edge of motifs. Do not fasten off.

Fold Hood in half and sc back seam of Hood tog, working 1 row of sc through both thicknesses. Join 2 strands of A to opposite long edge of motif strip and work 1 row of sc across; fasten off. With yarn needle, weave in ends. With right sides tog, sc Hood to Body along neck edge.
