Crochet Santa Jar

As many of you asked for pattern of Santa jar, I found it for you once again.

You’ll need:

1 skein of Red Heart® Super Saver™ (7 oz/198 g; 364 yds/333 m) in Contrast A Cherry Red (0319);

1 skein of the same yarn, but in Contrast B Buff (0334);

1 skein of the same yarn, but in Contrast C Soft White (0316);

Odds of the same yarn, but in Contrast D Black (0312);

Crochet hook 4 mm.

Size: 20.5 cm high.

Stitches control: 15 sts x 18 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Note: To change color, work to last 2 loops on hook and draw new color through last 2 loops, then proceed in new color.

Instructions

Santa

Beg at top of Head, with A, ch 37.

1st row: (WS). 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch to end of chain. Turn. 36 sc.

2nd row: Ch 1. *1 sc in each of next 5 sc. 2 sc in next sc. Rep from * to end of row. Turn. 42 sc.

3rd row: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.

Rep last row 7 times more. Join B. With B, rep last row 14 times more.

Fasten off, leaving a long end.

Hat Cuff

Note: Ch 3 at beg of row counts as dc. With C, ch 44.

1st row: (WS). 1 dc in 4th ch from hook and each ch to end of chain. Turn. 42 dc.

2nd row: Ch 3. 1 dc in each dc to end of row.

Fasten off, leaving long end.

Hat Top

With A, ch 2.

1st row: (WS). 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Turn. 6 sc.

2nd and alt rows: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.

3rd row: Ch 1. 2 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn. 12 sc.

5th row: Ch 1. *2 sc in next sc. 1 sc in next sc. Rep from * to end of row. Turn. 18 sc.

7th row: Ch 1. *2 sc in next sc. 1 sc in next 2 sc. Rep from * to end of row. Turn. 24 sc.

9th row: Ch 1. *2 sc in next sc. 1 sc in next 3 sc. Rep from * to end of row. Turn. 30 sc.

10th to 16th rows: As 2nd row.

Fasten off, leaving a long end.

Pompom

Wind C around 3 fingers 60 times. Tie tightly in the middle and leave a long end for attaching to Hat. Cut loops at both ends and trim to smooth round shape.

Nose

With B, ch 2.

1st rnd: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join with sl st to first sc. 6 sc.

2nd rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc.

Fasten off, leaving a long end.

Beard Curls

Make 17

With C, ch 8.

1st row: (RS). 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch to end of chain. 21 sc.

Fasten off, leaving a long end.

Assembly

Sew Hat Cuff to Santa as shown in picture. Sew back seam. With D, embroider eyes using Satin stitch. Sew Hat Top side seam. Sew top opening closed. Sew pompom securely to tip of Hat Top. Sew to Santa as shown in picture. Sew Nose and Beard Curls in place as shown in picture.
