Crocheted Dog Sweater

Hi everyone,
I'm thinking about crocheting a sweater for my dog, but I'm not sure what size to make. Does anyone have experience making dog clothes? I'd love to hear any tips or advice you have on sizing and fit.

Before I saw the pattern added by KY Carol from HHH (which I will def try), I have 2 I did for a 20lb and a now 60 lb large breed growing puppy. I crocheted a ribbed collar, connected a \○/ cape for over the back, and a shorter chest panel. I used same concept for both using #5 wool blend ends/scraps. Initially, I tried buttons to connect the top to the chest panel but think a buttoned strap just under the front legs would work better. Both have specific harness hook-up openings I adjusted for, and I wanted the one for the puppy to work as he grows. I tried mult times to upload pic, cant tell if I was successful.
