15 Hour Crochet Scarf Pattern

Materials

Super Bulky size 6 yarn. I used the yarn Loops and Threads Cozy Wool in color Golden Rod.
An 8 mm crochet hook.
Yarn needle with a big eye.
2 Fur pom poms. You can make your own for under a dollar using my free tutorial here.
Sewing needle and matching thread to attach your pom poms.

Finished Size

6 1/4 inches wide and 62 inches long without the pom poms and 68 inches with the pom poms attached.

Stitch Abbreviations

ch- chain
sc- single crochet
dc- double crochet

Gauge

Each pattern repeat= 1-1/2 inches wide.

Yardage

Approximately 220 yards. I used 2 skeins and then a little from the third skein. Each skein was 90 yards long.

Crochet Pattern

Row 1: (1 dc, ch 2, sc) into the 4th ch from hook, * sk next 2 chs, (2 dc , ch 2, 1 sc) in next ch, repeat from * to end. Turn.——-4 pattern repeats
Note: In all the following rows, the sc of the last pattern repeat is not worked into the ch-2 space but into the top of beginning ch-3. This is to make sure that the edges of your scarf stay straight and are not ragged.
Row 2: Ch 3( counts as a dc here and throughout), (1 dc, ch 2, sc) into the first ch-2 space, (2dc, ch 2, sc) in the next two ch-2 spaces, (2dc, ch 2) in the last ch-2 space, 1 sc on top of beginning ch-3. Turn.——-4 pattern repeats
Repeat Row 2 until your scarf is 62 inches long if you plan to add pom poms. If you don’t want to add pom poms, 68 inches would be a good length for a woman’s scarf. Fasten off with a 15-inch tail for cinching the ends of your crochet scarf.

Cinching the Crochet Scarf

You will use the yarn tails you left to cinch the scarf at both its ends. Thread the tail through a yarn needle. A plastic one works best.
Fold both the edges inwards for about an inch as shown in the picture above, go in an out through the edge of the scarf making a running stitch.
You will work into both the layers along the folds until your needle comes out through the other side.
Pull to cinch the end and make a couple of knots to secure. Repeat on the other end of your scarf.
Weave in any remaining tails left.
Now sew on the pom poms to the ends using a regular sewing needle and thread.
