Long Purple Tunic-Pullover

You’ll need:

400 (500)g of purple Scarlett yarn (33% wool, 22% polyacryl, 21% polyester, 14% polyamide, 10% alpaca; 120m/50g);

Straight and circular knitting needles 7.

Size: S-M (L-2XL).

Used Patterns

1 x 1 rib: straight and reversed row: the quantity of sts is odd. Start and finish every row with 1 selvage st. RS row: * 1 knit st, 1 purl*, finish with 1 knit st; WS rows: as sts face; circle rows: the quantity of sts is even, * 1 knit st, 1 purl*.

Garter stitch: knit sts.

Stockinette stitch: in RS row – knit sts, in WS row – purls.

Relief zigzags pattern: the quantity of sts is multiple 13 + 2 selvage sts. Work due to the scheme, on which only RS rows are stated, make WS rows as sts face, yarn overs as purls. Repeat pattern between selvage sts from 1st to the 14th rows.

Stitches control: stockinette stitch: 10,5 sts x 16 rows = 10 x 10 cm;

Relief zigzags pattern: 10,5 sts x 17,5 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Instructions

Back

Cast on 53 (67) sts and make rib for 18 cm. Then, for placket, make 2 cm = 4 rows of garter stitch, decrease 1 (0) st in the 1st row = 54 (67) sts. After that, work with stockinette stitch. In 17,5 cm = 28 rows from placket, start work with relief zigzags pattern. In 18,5 cm = 32 rows (12,5 cm = 22 rows) from patterns change, bind off 3 sts for arm-holes from both sides and 1 x 2 sts, 2 x 1 st in every 2nd row = 40 (53) sts. In 37,5 cm = 66 rows from patterns change, bind off the central 12 (17) sts for neck-hole and finish both sides separately. For smooth rounding, bind off 1 x 4 sts in the next 2nd row from inwards. In 40 cm = 70 rows from patterns change, bind off the rest 10 (14) sts of shoulder from each side.

Front

Make in the same way, as back, but for deeper neck-hole, bind off the central 8 (13) sts for neck-hole in 32 cm = 56 rows and 2 x 2 sts, 2 x 1 st in every 2nd row.

Sleeves

Cast on 23 (27) sts and make 16 cm of rib. Then, make placket in the same way, as for back, increase 1 st in the 1st row = 24 (28) sts. After that, work with stockinette stitch, for chamfers, increase 2 x 1 st of stockinette stitch in every 6th row (3 x 1 st of stockinette stitch in every 4th row) = 28 (34) sts. At the same time with the last increase, in 7,5 cm = 12 rows from placket, start working with relief zigzags pattern, for sizes L-2XL place pattern from the center. At the same time, for sleeve chamfers, increase 3 x 1 st of stockinette stitch in every 10th row (6 x 1 st of stockinette stitch in every 4th and 6th rows) = 34 (46) sts. In 20,5 cm = 36 rows from patterns change, bind off 1 st from both side for sleeve caps, 1 x 1 st in the next 2nd row, 2 x 1 st in every 4th row and 3 x 1 st, 2 x 2 sts in every 2nd row (8 x 1 st, 1 x 2 sts and 1 x 3 sts in every 2nd row). In 33 cm = 58 rows from patterns change, bind off the rest 12 (18) sts.

Assembly

Make shoulder seams. For collar, cast on 58 (68) sts with circular knitting needles along neck-hole, make 1 circle row of purls, then, work with rib. At 26 cm height of collar, bind off all sts as they face. Sew up the sleeves, make side and sleeve seams.
