You’ll need:
50g balls of wool: main color (M): 2 Contrast ©;
Crochet hook 4 mm;
Tapestry needle.
Instructions
Base
Make two pieces
Row 1: Using M, chain 36 stitches
Row 2: Single stitch into the stitch closest to hook, single stitch to end of row (35 stitches, 17cm in width)
Row 3: Chain 3, *pu‑ stitch, chain 2*. Repeat from * until end of row.
Repeat row 3 until piece measures 14 cm in height.
Row 17: Chain 3, *pu‑ stitch, chain 2*. Repeat from * until end of row.
Fasten off (approx. 15 rows of puff stitch total)
Turn pieces right sides together and sew together for two cm on three corners; leave the corner that will be under the handle open. The top of your cosy will now form a ring. Crochet two rows of puff stitch around this ring, decreasing by one with each stitch. Fasten off.
Outer leaves/ [Inner leaves]
Make 5 of each size.
Row 1: Using C, chain 18 [24]
Row 2: Treble into third stitch from hook. Treble in next six [eight] stitches. Half-treble into next ve [seven] stitches. Single stitch into last three [five] stitches.
Row 3: (Make these stitches into the other side of the chain). Single stitch into three [five] stitches. Half-treble into next five [seven] stitches. Treble in next seven [nine] stitches.
Row 4: Chain 3. Treble in next seven [nine] stitches. Half-treble into next ve [seven] stitches. Single stitch into three [five] stitches. Single stitch twice across the top of the leaf.
Row 5: (Make these stitches into the other side of the leaf). Single stitch into three [five] stitches. Half-treble into next five [seven] stitches. Treble in next seven [nine] stitches.
Row 6: Single stitch three times across the base of the leaf.
Fasten off.
Assembly
Sew the inner leaves to the edge of the ring at the top of your cosy. Sew the smaller outer leaves to the next row of puff stitches. Add fastening under handle: Using M, chain 12. Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Use the tails on your chain length to sew the chain to one side of the corner located under the handle. Sew a button on the other side of the corner.
