2^nd and all the even rows: * 1 purl, 1 knit st, 7 purls*; repeat from * to *, 1 purl, 1 knit st, 2 purls;

3^rd row: * cross knit2tog, 2 yarn overs, knit2tog to the right, 1 yarn over, 1 broaching, 1 knit st, knit2tog to the left*; repeat from * to *, cross knit2tog, 2 yarn over, knit2tog to the right;
