You’ll need:
3 skeins of Plymouth Encore Colorspun yarn in Grey Ombre color (7656);
Crochet hook 6 mm;
Tapestry needle.
Size: Scarf: 70” long, 8” wide. Pockets: 5” by 5”
Stitches control: 6.5 star stitches by 5 rows = 4”.
Notes
To pick up a loop, insert hook in indicated stitch or space, yoh, and pull loop through.
Instructions
Ch 30
Row 1: Pick up a loop in 2nd ch from hook and in each of next 4 ch (6 loops on hook), yoh, draw through all loops on hook (star stitch made), ch 1 (forms the “eye of star”). *Pick up a loop in the eye of the last star. Pick up a loop through the last loop of the previous star st. Pick up a loop through the same ch as the last loop of the previous star. Pick up a loop in each of next 2 chs (6 loops on hook), Yoh, draw through all loops on hook, ch 1 . Repeat from * across. 1 hdc in last ch (same ch as the last loop of the last star), turn – 13 star stitches
Row 2: Ch1, turn. 1 sc in same st. 1 sc in the “eye” of the 1st star st. *2 sc in the “eye” of the next star st. Repeat from * across to last st. 1 sc in the last st. – 27 sts
Row 3: Ch 2, turn. Pick up a loop in the front strand of 2nd ch from hook, then pick up a loop in the back strand of the same ch. Pick up a loop in each of next 3 sts (6 loops on hook), yoh, draw through all loops on hook, ch 1 . *Pick up a loop in the eye of the last star. Pick up a loop through the last loop of the previous star st. Pick up a loop through the same st as the last loop of the previous star. Pick up a loop in each of next 2 sts (6 loops on hook), yoh, draw through all loops on hook, ch 1 . Repeat from *across. 1 hdc in last st (same st as the last loop of the last star). Turn your work. – 13 star stitches
Repeat rows 2 and 3 until your scarf is approx 70” long, ending with row 2.
Cut yarn and tie off.
Pockets
Make 2.
Ch 17
Row 1: Sc into the second ch from the hook and into each ch across – 16 sts
Rows 2-20: Ch 1, turn. Sc blo into each st across.
Cut yarn leaving a long tail to sew the pocket onto the scarf.
Turn pockets so the lines are vertical. Pin pockets onto the right side of the scarf; centered 1.5’” from the bottom. Sew on with a tapestry needle.
Weave in all ends.
