You’ll need:

4 (4, 4, 5) skeins of Cascade Yarns® Eco+ 100% Peruvian Highland Wool 250 g (8.82 oz) / 478 yds (437 m) color # 8511;

1 skein of Cascade Yarns® Cascade 220® Sport 100% Peruvian Highland Wool 50 g (1.75 oz) / 164 yds (150 m) color # 9404 (for pocket lining);

Knitting needles 8 & 9 needles;

Long circular knitting needles 8;

Double pointed needles 5;

Yarn needle;

Stitch markers.

Length: 37” (40, 43, 46)”

Stitches control: 4 sts x 7 rows = 1” in seed stitch

Used Patterns

K2, P2 Ribbing:

Row 1: *K2, P2* rep across row.

Row 2: K over the K sts, P over the P sts as they face you.

Seed Stitch:

Row 1: *K1, P1* rep across row.

Row 2: P over the K sts, K over the P sts as they face you.

Instructions

Back

With size 9 needles, CO 76 (80, 88, 92) sts. (US 9 is used on the bottom ribbing to reduce narrowing at the bottom.) Work in K2, P2 ribbing for 3”. On smallest size, reduce sts to 74, on 3rd size (43) reduce to 86 sts, all other sizes remain the same count. Change to Seed Stitch and work until back measures 20” (20”, 20”, 20½”).

Armhole Shaping

BO 5 (5, 6, 7) sts at the beg of the next 2 rows. Dec 1 st each side every other row 4 (5, 6, 6) times. Continue in pat until back measures 28½” (29”, 29½”, 30½”).

Shape Shoulders

BO 5 sts on the next 6 (4, 4, 2) rows. BO 6 sts on the next 0 (2, 2, 4) rows. BO remaining 26, 28, 30, 32) sts.

Front

Make two halves, reversing shaping. With US 9 needles, CO 36 (40, 44, 48) sts. Work in K2, P2 ribbing for 3”. Size 37 inc 1 st (Size 40 remains at 40; Size 43 dec to 43; Size 46 inc to 46 on last row.) Change to Seed Stitch and work until front measures 3” above ribbing ending on wrong side row.

Split for Pocket

Right Front

With right side facing (starting at center front edge) work across 12 (14, 16, 18) sts. Add another ball and complete row. Working both sides at the same time, work until pocket opening is 5”. Join on next row and continue until front is same length as back to armhole ending on a right side row.

Armhole & Neck Shaping

BO 5 (5, 6, 7) sts at armhole edge. On next row, beg neck shaping while at the same time, continue with armhole shaping as for back.

Neck Edge Shaping

Dec 1 st at the neck edge every 2nd row 3 (3, 4, 4) times, then every 4th row 10 (11, 11, 12) times. -15 (16, 16, 17) sts. Work until armhole measures same as back. Bind off shoulders as for back.

Left Front

Work as for Right Front to the split for the pocket. With right side facing, beg at side edge, work across to last 12 (14, 16, 18) sts and join another ball as before. Complete as for Right Front, reversing shaping.

Sleeves

With US 8 needles, CO 36, (40, 40, 44) sts. Work in K2, P2 ribbing for 3”. Change to US 9 needles and Seed Stitch. Begin shaping as follows: Inc 1 st each side every 6th (6th, 4th, 4th) row 14 (16, 3, 1) times, then every 8th, 0, 6th, 6th) row 2 (0, 15, 17) times. 68 (72, 76, 80) sts. Work until sleeve measures 18” (18”, 18 ½”, 19”)

Shape Cap

BO 4 (5, 6, 7) on each side. Dec 1 st every other row on each side 4 (5, 5, 6) times. Dec 1 st on each side every row 11 (9, 9, 0) times Dec 1 st every other row on each side 5 (5, 6, 14) times. BO 3 (3, 3, 3) sts at the beg of the next 4 rows (all sizes) Bind off remaining sts.


Pocket Linings (make 2)

With Cascade 220® Sport and US 5 double pointed needles, CO 72 sts. (18 per needle) Join, being careful not to twist stitches and work in the round for 5”. Divide sts on 2 needles, 36 st each, and Kitchener Stitch the pocket lining closed.

Pocket Trim

With right side facing and US 9 needles, pick up and knit 24 sts along pocket opening on the side closest to center front. (Trim will fold to the inside away from center front.) Work in K2, P2 ribbing for 2”. BO in ribbing. Repeat for other side.

Sew in Pocket Linings

The front edge of the pocket lining is sewn in between the Pocket Trim and the front laying toward the center front, sewing all three layers at once. Use the mattress stitch on the back side of the pocket lining to the front so it will not show from the front. Using the Cascade 220® Sport, sew shoulder seams.


Front Collar Band

With US 8 needles and right side facing, pick up and knit 120 (120, 122, 122) sts to first neck dec, pick up 47 (50, 51, 54) sts along neck edge, pick up 26 (28, 30, 32) sts along back of neck, pick up 47 (50, 51, 54) sts along neck edge, pick up and knit 120 (120, 122, 122) sts to bottom of front. Work in K2, P2 ribbing for 6”. BO in ribbing.


Finishing

Sew in sleeves. Sew side seams. Loosely tack pocket lining to the ridge where the sts were picked up on the center front with long, loose stitches allowing it some freedom to move and keep the lining from hanging down. Steam lightly if needed.
